I loved the developer Two Tribes, they have been one of my favs for years, I have all of their games, on all platforms. It was truly heartbreaking when they announced that Rive was going to be their final release. Especially when we look at the state of game development today, where today's game seem soulless, they have no heart. When you play a game released by older developers like Two Tribes, and then play something released in the modern age, you immediately can feel that something is missing. It is a real shame that gaming has become what it has.

Very fun game! Loved it. Finished it in a day, about 7 hours. Really tight controls. Great set pieces! Cool bosses. Cool effects (explosions, blasters etc). Running smoothly. Story was engaging enough. Great variety in the level design and gameplay - sometimes the game switches the genre a little bit, but always keeping to the same controls. I could have done without the 4th wall breaking and the couple pop culture references. But it didn't annoy me. Also the upgrade system is very basic. But it's a short game so it fits. All and all: I totally recommend this game. I didn't expect much, so I was very pleasantly suprised and was engaged and really had fun for 7 hours with it.

RIVE: Wreck, Hack, Die, Retry! Review [quote=Wendrex] Developer: Two Tribes Genre: Action/Platform Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch Introduction "RIVE: Wreck, Hack, Die, Retry!" is an action-platform game that combines frenetic combat with exploration and puzzle mechanics. Developed by Two Tribes, the title stands out for its intense gameplay, captivating art style, and entertaining narrative, making it a memorable experience for action game lovers. Graphics and Aesthetics The visual style of "RIVE" is one of its most striking features. With 2D graphics and a vibrant color palette, the game brings to life a mechanical world full of details. The animations are fluid, contributing to a sense of dynamic movement during battles. The aesthetics are reminiscent of the classics of the 90s, with a modern touch, making each scenario, enemy, and object visually appealing. Gameplay "RIVE" gameplay is intense and action-packed, centered around a fast-paced and strategic combat system. Key features include: Frenzied Combat: The player controls a robot in a world filled with enemies and obstacles. The combat system allows for a variety of attacks, from gunplay to evasive maneuvers. The fluid controls ensure that the player feels in control, even in chaotic situations. Exploration and Puzzles: In addition to combat, "RIVE" incorporates exploration and puzzle elements, requiring players to use their wits to advance. Levels are designed with secret areas and challenges that encourage curiosity and experimentation. Enemy Hacking: One of the game's most innovative mechanics is the ability to hack enemies. This not only allows you to use your weapons against other opponents, but also adds a strategic layer to combat. This mechanic encourages players to think tactically, making the most of the environment and enemies. Soundtrack "RIVE"'s soundtrack is electronic and energetic, perfectly complementing the game's action. The dynamic tracks create an immersive atmosphere that heightens the experience, making each battle and moment of exploration even more exciting. Narrative "RIVE"'s story is presented in a light-hearted and entertaining manner. The game follows the protagonist, a robot mechanic named Ty, as he journeys through an alien world filled with mechanical enemies and challenges. Humor and narrative are interwoven into the interactions and dialogue, providing an enjoyable and light-hearted experience that stands out in the genre. Challenges and Difficulty "RIVE" is challenging, but offers a fair checkpoint system that minimizes frustration. The player must be prepared to die and try again, but the "die, try again" mechanic is integrated in a way that promotes learning and skill. This encourages exploration and mastery of the combat mechanics, rewarding players with a sense of achievement. Conclusion "RIVE: Wreck, Hack, Die, Retry!" is a thrilling experience that combines fast-paced action, clever puzzles, and an entertaining narrative into one cohesive package. With stunning graphics, engaging gameplay, and a unique style, the game is an excellent choice for those who enjoy challenging platforming and fast-paced action. I love the game. I just don't like the button layout. Using an XBox Controller I want to use the A button for jump at least. I'm not playing the game for that reason.
