I've had a few times while playing that feel really intense and immersive, others that feel a bit dull and repetitive. I like the idea that you can play as a soldier, or sort of play it like a RTS and command units via map (or both at the same time!), but the systems feel like they need a bit of work (which is understandable - one developer, and early access). Like, for example, when using the map to command troops, you can't zoom in to get a better view of the battle field. In other areas, like when playing as a foot soldier, game audio can add a lot of immersion, but Rising Front really lacks that. The audio feels sort of off. I'm not sure how to explain it lol. It feels strangely quiet, even when you're in the midst of a battle. The other downsides are the loadout menu and animations. You can't save a loadout, so every round you have to re-select your weapon of choice, and select how much ammo you want (which weighs you down depending on how much you have), and select equipment (bandages, grenades etc.). I think it'd be great if you could save a loadout so you don't need to basically remake it every time you play if you don't want the starter loadout. As for the animations - really they're actually fine, but I think the first person animations for weapons needs a bit of work. The weapon sway and reload animations are a bit funky. Also the developer has abandoned past games like Rise of Liberty which I used to play, which makes me a bit concerned that this game will be abandoned as well, but that might just be me. Just keep it in mind. All in all, I think all of these issues could be fixed, and Rising Front has really great potential. If you enjoy games like Ravenfield, you'd probably like Rising Front, although it currently as of writing this doesn't have vehicles (Don't let the workshop fool you - vehicles as of now are literally re-textured cannons and can't move lol). I'd say it's worth the buy, but if you're still not sure, I'd wait and just keep an eye on the game and see what future updates release :)

More than 60 million soldiers fought in "The War to End All Wars". It ended nothing. Yet it changed the world forever. What follows is frontline combat. You are not expected to survive

I was only going to check it out for 5 minutes and somehow it ended up to be 2 hours. Before I write a proper review, just wanted to say it's an awesome large battle sim where you can command thousands of AI troops (hence low poly models) or realise how pointless your existence is by being one of those troops in FPS mode. It's single player, allows you to command platoons from the map and direct artillery and mustard gas fire. There are premade scenarios, sandbox mode where you can construct fortifications or entire towns. In FPS mode you can equip several dozen different weapons available between 1914-17 and also take control of machine guns. It's chaotic, it's fun. Rating: 10/10, this is something you must get.

Great game I just really hope the dev realizes that he has something special here and decides to do more than just "several more maps & weapons and a high level of polish" throughout early access. Tanks and planes would be a great start or maybe even a conquest mode like the original Star Wars Battlefront 2 or Ravenfield which is a very similar game......Just saying it would be a real shame to leave it where it's at.
