When it launched it was amazing and a great game but was poorly handled and then sold off to a company that maintains the game but just wants your money. Play for fun but remember this will never be what it was again and don't get sucked into the cash shop unless you want to just spend your money to progress or unlock content hidden away for the sake of greed.

For people who are looking for and old school mmorpg like World of warcraft that isn't World of warcraft, this is the right game. I refuse to believe that this game is dying. Curious to see if this is true? Then come join and play with the last survivors of Telara!

Can't believe we picked this game back up. Wife and I bought the game at RELEASE, played to level 25 or so, and got bored. A few years later, tried again, same. Now, 13 years after release, we randomly re-installed it. The population is absolutely dead, at least in the 'vanilla' original content. But we're playing it like a 2-player game, and it's a very chill, nostalgia ride though a more 'classic' MMORPG experience of leveling, exploring zones, and doing quests. The story exists, its OK. Honestly the graphics & art hold up fairly well too. We're just about done with 'vanilla' and headed to the first expansion, and we're 80 hours in. For a "Rift and chill" after the kids go to bed, it's been working well and I think we plan to keep going! edit 1: 85 hours in and we finally moved to the first "expansion" of new continents. Not bad for a single/two-player game just enjoying questlines and such.

Will always have a special place in my heart as the first MMO I played where you could be a legit PvE tank as a Rogue (taunts and all!).
