Here are my thoughts on this VN as a massive Re;Zero fan. Pros: + The strongest aspect for this VN is definitely it's cast of well established characters. The interaction they have is very enjoyable and fun. The characters's dialogue felt very faithful and natural most of the times. It was especially fun to see more screentime and moments for the side characters namely Al, Blue Haired anime girl, Ram, Priscilla and Reinhard. + Emilia Best Girl + I played on JP audio with EN Subs, the voice acting is as good as the anime and the EN Subs is decent. Some parts of the Sub would irritate me like how Subaru calls Emilia-tan, Mili and some other parts otherwise it doesn't hurt the experience. + The main plot is decent. Some parts for me felt a bit draggy and just had too much dialogue instead of visual storytelling. The mystery was here and there, it was fairly obvious at some point of the story and the delivery for it was alright. The new characters for me were half and half, I enjoyed some of them (Tiga, Melty) and wouldn't mind seeing them in the future in the anime but Sakura and Wolf, they certainly lack the witches/villain aura that the anime has. Cons: - The VN's soundtracks is just bad. There's honestly nothing to say about them. They're so boring and uninspiring compare to the anime. They should have just taken the anime's OSTs and it'd be so much better. It doesn't help the fact there's a limited amount of soundtracks as well, so you're just gonna hear the same soundtrack loop over & over. - The visuals & CGs aspect for this VN is incredibly lackluster and boring. I haven't played that much VN so I can't judge that much but IMO, the visuals, CGs and scenes aren't very good and are lacking a lot. The deaths and the fight scenes heavily relies on the dialogue to show off what's happening and the visuals leaves a lot to be desired. - The 3D aspect of the VN and it's 3D "gameplay" is weird. It isn't exactly well animated, it's slow, not fun and it would've been better if they just stayed 2D. There were times in the VN where the 3D chibi-like characters for me would ruin the battle scenes and moments because of how goofy they were animated and look. The VN is definitely fun and worth playing for Re:Zero fans but only at heavily discounted price.

Really good, i cant really say if it would be a good game without having watched the anime, but as a anime fan it was a really great experience, really good presentation as well, gameplay was simple as it should in such games and fun enough. Story wise it could very well have been part of the Novels, truly felt like OVA material.

This was honestly a surprise to find on Steam. I love Re:ZERO and I would call it my favorite anime, so how does this stack up. For a Re:ZERO fan, it's amazing, but for a light novel fan, it's a bit of a disappointment. The thing is that this game has so many cool things and has a neat concept, but on the other hand, is pretty padded in some areas. The new characters are all great and even though it was predictable, it was still really fun. The voice acting is also really impressive! Walking around the Royal Capital, and learning about the royal candidates was great! My biggest issue is honestly that there could have been more variance in the art and I felt some deaths were more "PG-13" when it would have been great to read something really horrible. Rem also seems a bit... different, almost like she was flanderized completely! The game also had 3 really long endings, and then a really short one. I wish this game was about 3 hours shorter. That being said, the concept of loops and how some things were done were really interesting. It would be great to see a Re:ZERO game with thousands of branching paths using a system like this, and more player choices! I would give this an 8.40/10!

Im a huge fan of Re:Zero. I've watched the anime a few times and I'm currently reading the LNs. This game is a Visual Novel where you go through a unique story line before the Royal Selection starts, told through the perspective of Subaru after he has joined Roswaal's entourage. The artwork is all original from the main artist Shinichirou Otsuka, which was very exciting to see! I was constantly excited to see their artwork throughout this game. Some of their art looked a little weird after adding the typical VN idle animations though. The game sprinkles in some light area exploring and some "combat", but since Subaru canonically cannot fight very well in this part of the story you're left with managing stamina as you run around the arena and interacting with it and your allies, so by and large it is a Visual Novel game! I think this is a great game for people that are fans of the series. If you are someone coming into this without knowledge of Re:Zero already you might have some trouble though, as the beginning of the game is some time after the series actually starts. I picked this up for $15 and I feel like that is a fair price for this game. Since it came out in 2021 I do not believe it deserves a $60 price tag, especially when some of the audio levels for the voice actors are not equal, and I did see a rare spelling mistake or two.

A fun visual novel with colourful art and good voice acting that is like a playable arc of episodes from the anime.... from the middle of the anime, that is. The game omits pretty much all of the exposition of characters and setting that occupies the first few episodes of the anime and as a result, anyone going into this game without being familiar with the Re:ZERO story will be very, very, VERY confused by it all. Overall recommended, but if you haven't seen the anime, read the manga, or read the novel, give it a miss until you have.
