Nov. 2024
Overall I enjoyed it! I'd say 4/5 stars. It's a good length, I finished it in two sittings but you could do it in one if you really wanted; not a quick 1-hour game, but also not so long the suspense loses its effect. The graphics, voice acting, and music are good, and the environmental sound effects really add to the psychological suspense and immersion. It also plays really well on the Steam Deck. I'm gonna dock a star for unintuitive controls, especially when interacting with doors, knobs, anything that had to be turned or slid with the left joystick, I found that really difficult and frustration. Maybe that's easier with keyboard controls, I played entirely on the Deck. I also found some of the puzzles a little boring. I liked the story; the first twist felt predictable and I saw it coming pretty quickly, but the larger twist came as a surprise, I think I only guessed it at the beginning of the chapter, and even then I only got part of it. I can see how some people wouldn't like it or would feel disappointed, but it reminded me of one of my favorite shows (so strongly in fact I'd love to ask the devs if it was an influence...) and I really liked it, I thought it was as well-executed as it could be. I wouldn't call this game terrifying, but that works for me. I'm a big wuss when it comes to horror and prefer psychological horror to survival, and I love walking simulators, so this hit a nice sweet spot. I also prefer when conflict with monsters/adversaries is more about stealth and avoidance rather than fighting. I think it has good replayability too; I don't think the story itself changes, but there are lots of collectibles that are easy to miss, and multiple endings. I'll definitely replay it, but maybe not for awhile, I think the suspense would lose its effect if I played it again so close together.

It felt like reality and fantasy were blended together, as if I were constantly drifting in and out of a dream. While the playtime may seem a bit short, it offers a variety of elements, including intriguing puzzles, tense moments, and unexpected storylines. It's truly like a circus! 환상 속에 그대가 있다.

I loved this game, if you like games where its more about the story and not dieing a thousand times, you will like this. The scares are real, and the story is not predictable. Highly recommended

I thought this game was a fantastic psychological horror walking simulator. + The graphics, art style and atmosphere are amazing. + The Funhouse in the circus section was well designed and super fun. + The puzzles are original and well balanced in difficulty + A few parts of the game were genuinely creepy and got under my skin - I could not turn the subtitles off or the big white crosshair dot in the middle of the screen, very annoying and ruins a bit of the atmosphere when playing. The story was interesting to me and I enjoyed it. However there is a big twist at the end, and I think some people will not actually like the twist. I got all 5 endings in 4.5 hours, the first playthrough took me 3.5 hours for reference. 9.5/10 from me! Very polished and well made.

Good game. Falls short of being great (for me) for these reasons: - Poor final puzzles. After some of the earlier ones, doing the modules at the finale felt like a chore. They weren't difficult or interesting, and didn't match the quality of puzzles found throughout the rest of the game. Or even the puzzle cube immediately prior. - Mandatory stealth sections. They don't add much, don't fit with the flow of the game, and the crouching speed is honestly much too slow. I ended up intentionally dying three times during the outdoor stealth section, because crouch-walking around the monster was boring. It's just easier to let it send you back to the starting point than spend the time crouch-walking to get out of range. - Some unclear plot points. Why does Liam think he's killed everyone? They're already dead by the time he escapes the house set. Did he shoot them, put the gun down and go back to that part of the facility to continue his hallucinations? Is there any reason for him to believe he did this? - Ends with no real resolution. The mysteries are wrapped up nicely enough, but it seriously just sort of ends without any flair. You solve a few lacklustre puzzles, open a door and the credits roll. It felt quite rushed and unimaginative. All in all, a strong game with some rough edges. It's not scary, but the set pieces, imagery and storytelling were all very good, as were the vast majority of puzzles. I would love more like this.
