I've played this twice in my teenage and uni years, and now did it thrice, and it's still as good as ever. I love this game.

A Nostalgic Adventure This game is a nostalgic trip back to my childhood.♥ ✯intro If you enjoy puzzle-solving to gather food or create equipment to escape an island, this is the game for you. The inventory system is exceptionally well-designed, once you play it you'll get what I mean. + the flexibility in crafting. ✯any negatives? Occasionally, there's an earthquake effect that can cause headaches or dizziness (at least for me), which can be a bit off-putting. Additionally, the introduction of robots towards the end feels out of place and disrupts the "island vibe". Personally, I would've preferred feral monkeys as enemies to keep with the natural, survivalist theme. ✯positives Despite these minor issues, the game has excellent voice acting and beautiful cutscenes that are perfectly paced and never overwhelming. Most important: you're able to become friends with a monkey!!!! ♥♥♥♥ ☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・° ✩8/10✩ ♥monkee♥

An Extraordinary quest based on "The Mysterious Island" by J. Verne. Find yourself in the fantastic fable of The Lincoln's Island... and ,eventually, don't forget to check your back from time to time. The Island seems to be an empty land but it's only from the first observation...

7/10. An adventure game with somewhat novel and interesting gameplay ideas, and a relatively simple story that nonetheless references classic literature in cool ways. Technical Details/Presentation This is an old adventure game - it looks okay but it's not gonna win any beauty contests. I will say I attempted to run this on my desktop with a 4K monitor and discrete GPU and ran into issues, and put it aside. More recently I tried to play it on my laptop and it worked fine - so maybe a lower-res screen would be good for this game. Gameplay This game has standard adventure game trappings: point and click, with an inventory and puzzles. It's quasi-3D, however - each point you move between has full 360 rotation all around. On the inventory side of things, there's a sort of crafting system that extends beyond the traditional adventure game "combine objects" gameplay, in that there are formulas that call for a certain type of object, rather than a specific object itself (use porcupine quills OR acacia thorns to craft something). There are also a couple of specific sections where a health bar must be raised to a maximum. Furthermore, there are a few situations where there are multiple paths to complete an objective (such as "craft a gun to damage this enemy" vs. "craft a bow and arrow to damage this enemy"). All in all it's doing a few things that feel pretty unique for the genre, especially given its release date. Story Playing this game has been a singular experience: I myself am currently on a somewhat rudimentary island (yesterday evening I saw a lizard dart through the gap under my door, and on the weekend we had to time our trips to get to the one store during the two hours it was open), so there's a sort of empathy for the experiences shown in this game. In any case: the game opens up with the main character ashore on a remote island - she must recover her energy and then explore the island. The store page makes this pretty clear, but the setting and semblance of a plot is pulled directly from Jules Verne's novel The Mysterious Island - it's still possible to enjoy the story without having read the book, but a lot of the context would be lost (The Mysterious Island has a similar relationship with 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea). There really isn't much in the way of story - it's mainly the main character moving across the island and encountering things from the aforementioned novel. Near the end there's a bit of a surprise and a new context within which to view the game's main character and the main character of note in the novel(s), but it's not too heavy-handed in its presentation, which is nice. This is a fun little adventure game, but as mentioned, a lot of your enjoyment would likely come from having read the novels by Jules Verne.
