Resident Evil Revelations 1 was great. The story was fine. This story was set between the events of Resident Evil 4 And Resident Evil 5. The graphics look good. The gameplay system was great. The raid mode was great and it was fun to play co-op with friends. It's hard to do on solo without your partner. There is nothing much to say about this game. This game was decent and cool bosses. This game was an underrated Resident Evil Spin-Off Series. 8/10

March 2025
Awesome Resident Evil game that's structured like a TV series with 12 episodes, non-stop plot twists, very tense orchestral soundtrack, and great graphics and cinematic cutscenes especially considering it was originally made for the 3DS. I laughed out loud at the twist in episode 6, that was so funny. The first level was pure horror, especially when playing on Infernal difficulty. Contrary to what some may say, it actually is possible to play Infernal on your first playthrough. And it's quite an experience. You start without any weapon upgrades, ammo is limited, enemies are strong. There's a dodge mechanic in the game that's crucial because you don't have enough ammo to kill everything. The gameplay changes once you get some mods. I really like the charge shot mod, which allows you to hold the fire button to increase damage. It's nice to save ammo like that, but the mod is only available later in the game. There's also a weapon mod to increase Daze chance which puts enemies into a stunned mode after which you can charge punch them. Reminds me a bit of RE4. The scan mechanic puzzles me. I'm not sure what the added gameplay value of this is. But the game wants you to scan everything everywhere you go, because you'll find ammo and weapon mods that way. Scanning enemies will give you healing items. Very cumbersome if you ask me. Also takes you out of the game a bit. Enemies are not as interesting as RE4. They're just varying amounts of skin and muscle. it's much more fun to bully enemies that look human, rather than these abominations that often don't even have a face. The Scarmiglione looks pretty cool though. I also don't like that doors are indestructible Most characters aren't super interesting either, because the story doesn't go into much depth. Everyone is just doing their job professionally. I think it would've been more fun to have someone be disgusted or shocked by all the gross parasitic monsters, it would've been more relatable at least. Most characters I didn't like at first, but they grew on me. For example, that childish behavior of Quint ("I hate snow") gave me a bad first impression, but he gets better later on. Jill seems a little cold at first, but she's cool. Jessica on the other hand was annoying. She complains that Chris can't take a hint, but she is the one who's not taking any hint.. Rachel's little side story was intense. I wish we could've seen more of that. All other characters are just angry all the time. Rachel is the only one with different emotions. And it's very disturbing and fitting for a survival horror. Soundtrack is epic. The intro song and episode end theme have that feel of a complicated TV series with all kinds of betrayals and reveals. I love everything about the final boss theme, but especially the cymbals, bass line, and the piano flowing up and down like you're battling (in) a sea storm. Ride on Sea sounds like Trials of Fortitude, one of my favorite battle themes. Also, Scream is an amazing horror track, with lots of quick notes and pauses. It's like you're fighting some madman who's throwing plates and forks everywhere. Raid mode is actually quite fun. Just simple combat without scanning or puzzles. The zombies are challenging with upgraded versions. I really like that it shows the damage with each hit. Also, you can unlock some new outfits by playing Raid mode. It's annoying though when a zombie spawns right next to you, while you're trying to get the No Damage bonus.

Overall Score: 8.5/10 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐️⭐️ Pros: ✅ Classic survival horror vibes ✅ Atmospheric and tense setting ✅ Engaging story ✅ Solid gameplay and gunplay ✅ Raid Mode is fun and addictive Cons: ❌ Some backtracking issues ❌ Occasional pacing problems ❌ Controls feel clunky at times Review Breakdown 1. Gameplay - 8.5/10 🎮 "Resident Evil: Revelations" brings back the tense survival horror elements of classic RE games while blending in modern action mechanics. The game is structured like an episodic TV series, which helps keep the suspense high. You’ll explore creepy, claustrophobic environments, manage limited ammo, and take on grotesque bio-organic weapons (B.O.Ws). ✅ A strong mix of horror and action ✅ Tense, atmospheric combat with limited resources ✅ Raid Mode is an addictive co-op experience ❌ Some sections feel repetitive with too much backtracking 2. Story & Atmosphere - 9/10 🧩 Set between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, Revelations follows Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as they investigate a derelict cruise ship, the Queen Zenobia. The setting is a standout feature—dark, eerie hallways reminiscent of the Spencer Mansion make for an excellent horror atmosphere. ✅ Well-paced, intriguing storyline ✅ Strong survival horror elements bring back old-school RE vibes ✅ Memorable set pieces and enemy encounters ❌ Some side characters feel underdeveloped 3. Graphics & Sound - 8/10 🎵 Originally designed for the 3DS, the HD versions received a visual overhaul. While it’s not as polished as later RE games, the lighting and environmental design are effective at creating tension. The soundtrack and sound design amplify the horror—creepy noises, eerie silence, and monster roars all add to the immersion. ✅ Great atmosphere with improved HD visuals ✅ Strong use of lighting and sound for tension ❌ Character animations can feel stiff at times 4. Combat & Controls - 8/10 🔫 The over-the-shoulder combat works well, similar to Resident Evil 4/5, but movement can feel a bit clunky at times. The addition of scanning mechanics (Genesis Scanner) to find hidden items adds a layer of strategy but isn’t always fun to use repeatedly. ✅ Satisfying gunplay with tense, limited ammo mechanics ✅ Enemy designs are creepy and engaging ❌ Movement and aiming can feel sluggish 5. Multiplayer & Raid Mode - 9/10 👥 One of Revelations’ best features is Raid Mode, which turns the game into a fast-paced, action-packed experience with co-op options. It offers tons of replayability with different weapons, difficulty levels, and characters to unlock. ✅ Raid Mode is incredibly fun and addictive ✅ Multiplayer co-op extends replay value ❌ Main campaign is strictly single-player Final Verdict: 8.5/10 - A Fantastic Blend of Horror & Action "Resident Evil: Revelations" successfully blends old-school survival horror with modern action, making it a must-play for Resident Evil fans. The eerie ship setting, tense atmosphere, and engaging story make it stand out, while Raid Mode adds hours of replayability. However, some pacing issues, backtracking, and slightly clunky controls keep it from reaching perfection. 🔹 Recommended for: Resident Evil fans, survival horror lovers, players who enjoy co-op modes 🔹 Not for: Players who dislike slower-paced horror games or prefer pure action Would I recommend Resident Evil: Revelations? Yes—especially if you love classic RE tension with a modern twist! 🧟‍♂️

This part of the series is special to me and I really like it. The game is small but the fact that it is not big and long does not necessarily have to be an indicator of quality because I think it represents good quality and playing it gave me a lot of pleasure. I rate the game positively and recommend it to fans of the series.

I really enjoyed this game. Did not expect to. Despite its age, it feels very smooth, though the strafing movement is a bit awkward.
