Whoever thought it was necessary to remove the iconic "resident evil" voice in the main menu... It was a bad idea and no you are not as smart or visionary as you think. You should definitely feel bad.

Played this game with one hand. Fascinating and life changing experience, wish Leon could bust a nut in me the same way he busts the zombies heads.

Few video game series ever manage to pull away from the video game masses and reach main stream appeal.. They become something more then video games and become part of pop culture, games like Super Mario Brothers, Pac-Man, Tetris, etc etc etc.. Another one of those games which have stretched far beyond their gaming origins is Resident Evil, with movies, novels, and a slew of video games mentioning the name Resident Evil will get someone's attention.. While the original game was a complete classic, with some of the earliest known examples of Jump Scares (that dog jumping through the window still gives some of us nightmares) and a completely new and original game design, play and ideas. (No lying, if you were alive when Resident Evil 1 released you were enamored by its' uniqueness gameplay) The sequel followed suit a few years later, expanding what made the original great and helping pave the way for the pop culture phenomenon that Resident evil would become one day.. The Story - Like the original game the story features two separate playable characters and stories. You can pick between Claire Redfield, the original games male protagonist Chris Redfield's sister, or Leon Kennedy, a brand new RPD police officer. The first, second and third game seem to have some continuity errors as far as cohesive storyline goes but to sum it up, Racoon City has a viral outbreak (zombies) which has thrown everything into disarray. Leon stops at a gas station to get gas when he notices something weird going on.. He heads inside to investigate when he's attacked. Claire happens by on her way to Racoon city to search for her brother Chris. After seeing the zombies and having an issue with an exploding Semi, they start off on their horrific adventure to discover what happened in Racoon city, try to help put a stop to it, and stay alive.. Gameplay - If this was 1998, I'd go into detail about how the game works, but since it's 2024, if you don't' know how a third person shooter works then I don't know what to tell you.. The only unique aspects of the game are the various Puzzles you need to solve as you progress.... (or do like most of us do and hit up You tube. IGN, or other sources for all the information you'll ever need.. One part that has to be talked about are the Ghost Stories, during the course of the game you'll run into several people with tragic backstories, if you finish the game you can unlock (I think by beating the game, I bought the unlock all pack so I don't know for sure) where you can run an alternate reality where you can alter that one person's outcome.. The stories are relatively short, the longest one was maybe 20 minutes, they are fun and challenging experiences to help add to the experience. IIRC about 5 of them exist.. Pro's Good graphics very engaging, A remake that was more then a cash grab Relatively easy 100% for people who want the biggest E-peen available Ran flawlessly on my 4090 Con's Some continuity errors with the First and third games Lots of back tracking (that's just Resident Evil I guess) Recommendation It's been about five years since the remake was released, playing it this last month has been a really amazing experience.. With my rather Robust library size I wanted to go in and play some of the games that I bought but never touched.. I was really happy with my Resident Evil 2 experience, I could only remember bits and pieces from the PlayStation release all them years ago, I know that some things were changed and shortened or removed to make this game work, but ultimately it felt really great to play again. I'd recommend buying it, playing it and enjoying it..

As someone who has never played OG Resident Evil 2 but watched some videos and read articles, this remake is very well made and almost close to perfection and a very well remake of the 1998 masterpiece. The atmosphere, graphics, the vibes, its own essence, enemies, map design, story, sound design is a one in a million. The lickers and Mr. X scared the shit out of me a few times at the point that it made me scream lmao. The feeling of oppression and hopeless in the air of a decaying police station and Raccoon City is something that I barely experienced in a videogame. Puzzles are really well made and makes you think just a little bit but are very nice to do. Nevertheless, I gotta say that the 2nd run, in my case was with Claire and some aspects didn't make any kind of sense. For example, how Claire (in my case) needs to do the same puzzles that Leon does in the 1st run. I understand that is obviously a game design thing but cmon. How do you fight the same William Birkin? Zombies... bullet sponges, that's it. Even if you shoot them 7 times in the face, there they are, still livin'. No more to say. Despite all of its flaws, I clearly understand why people call this "The best remake of all time". I thought: "Is this game THAT good?". After I tried it, yes it is. If you want probably the best zombies experience in a game, go and buy this game, even if you don't want a zombie experience but a good game, go, what are you waiting for. 9/10

I played this game after finishing the Resident Evil 3 and 4 remakes, and it might honestly be my favorite remake entry in the series so far. TL;DR: buy it if you like third person horror games! Pros - Beautiful graphics and sound design , which really breathe life into the horror aspect despite being played a third-person perspective - A decent length of play time ; playing a single run is fun, but would highly recommend rounding out the story by using the "2nd run" option for the other player character at least - Reasonable difficulty curve ; limited ammo can seem daunting at first, but with frequent saving (in non-hardcore mode) and some skilful inventory management, this heightens the challenge instead of feeling like a chore. - You're incentivized to seek out hidden items and areas to fully experience the game to get more resources, and the map tracker feature marking unexplored rooms as red is very helpful. - Keep an eye out for helpful loading screen tips every time you die! - Some really fun player customization and mods available if you're into that! Cons - For newcomers to the franchise, the layout of the RPD police station can be labyrinthine and frustrating . The map addresses a lot of these concerns, though. - Even for non-newcomers, the amount of backtracking involved can be very tedious. The player character's movements can feel a tad slow at times due to the lack of sprint, especially when being actively pursued by monsters. - You also can't access the entire map on any single playthrough: a minor frustration, but can interfere with the OCD of having unexplored regions on the map. - While I found the difficulty reasonable (as someone who feels they're a casual-average skill level gamer), this game pulls no punches and throws you straight into action which can be daunting if you're unfamiliar (and taunts you to play the game on easy mode if you keep dying). - Some of the puzzles (2nd run chemical lab puzzle was one that comes to mind) can slow down the pace quite a bit amidst heavy action sequences.
