The gameplay is good - lots of varied puzzles and interesting mechanics - but the story is chock-full of misandry, curse words, bad writing, meaningless dialogs and pointless cutscenes. My recommendation is to skip all cutscenes and mute voices, then this game actually becomes enjoyable.

Puzzles are in the style of Portal and The Talos Principle. There is an attempt at a story which would have been better without the unjustified cursing - it feels like they just threw-in swear words randomly into the conversation. The game starts off well, but come mid-game the auto-saves are not frequent enough, thus a small error would mean having to re-do several complex sequences. I don't have that kind of patience and couldn't be bothered after that, but having bought it at a discount for £1.77 I still recommend it as good value.

Relicta is a darn good game. It is one of the best first person puzzle games that I’ve played. The main puzzle mechanic of Relicta shows great similarities to the puzzle mechanic of another game called Magrunner: Dark Pulse, which I also recommend playing. Still, in my opinion the puzzle mechanic in Relicta is better implemented. What strikes me most about this game is its length. It took me a whopping 46 hours to finish the game. If you look at the Steam Achievements then you’ll see that only 11,1% of players got the achievement to finish the game. I suspect this is so low because the game is so long. I would almost complain about the game being so long, almost. I do not because the game is that good. Some other reviewers have pointed out that there is needless swearing in the game. I totally agree with them. The swearing is unnecessary. In my opinion, this game is almost as good as Portal.

Puzzle games are my favorite genre and I've played all of the major ones. The puzzle design in this game is fantastic starting with easy stuff at first. But it soon gets serious though, eventually branching into huge multi-tiered puzzle arenas that soak up hours of your time. By mid game expect novel tricks and red herring solutions that make you feel clever until you discover they don't work! The skill of these puzzles is way better than the simple Portal games or even the Talos: Road to Gehena stuff. There is a trivial story about some of the cattiest, most potty-mouthed scientists who hid a haunted rock from the Corporation or something. The script is good for comedic relief if nothing else but you can skip the dialog scenes if they start to wear thin. The puzzles are truly great and should be savored. If you love the genre I'd suggest refraining from the use of a solutions guide. Better to save and return after resting overnight. Challenging puzzle games don't come around often because they are too frustrating for most leading to rage quits and negative reviews. If you enjoy this game you might try Qbeh-1. It's also challenging with similar puzzles to Relicta.

If you like puzzle games then honestly you are mad for not buying this at the current price (about $1). It's a bit clunky, but well worth that money.
