Finally a good arcade racing game! Space ships, mad speeds, challenging bots, cool music. I bet Hot Wheels should be envy about Readout tracks!

Best racing game since F-ZERO GX. The bots are pretty good, but with the release of the sequel, The player base for this one has dropped. I personally prefer this to Redout 2, but both games are good. Edit: I've spent a ton of time on this game with Playstation VR. It's quite an experience to say the least, with the insane visuals taking up even more of your vision in a psychedelic rush. Good times.

Comparing this game to any of the WipeOut is a disservice to both WipeOut AND Redout. It is not that Redout is a "bad" game per se, but it lacks the certain charm that WipeOut possesses. Besides the lack of nostalgia associated with the game , the game has certain features that the WipeOut series does not have: Bright neon colored and minimalist styled ships (and my knowledge of WipeOut ends at the PSP version btw), an equipment loadout for your Anti-Grav ship, bright colored and beautifully crafted worlds to race in, and a steam inventory based livery and color scheme selection that you can earn by winning a race daily. IF you want a true WipeOut I suggest the games "BallisticNG" and "Roll Cage"'s spiritual successor "GRIP: Combat Racing" ★ Please check out my curator pages and my other content ★ ★[url=https://steamcommunity.com/groups/cuppa-tea] Regular Cuppa Tea Reviews ★[url=https://steamcommunity.com/groups/latenight-cuppa] Adult (18+) Cuppa Tea Reviews ★[url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/steel-cathedral/images] My Classy Content ★[url=https://www.instagram.com/steelcathedralgaming] Screenshot/meme image dump

As a guy who has never played F-zero or Wipeout, Redout is my first introduction to pod-racing and boy did it fail to disappoint me. The game is very fun. It is hard, almost to the point of rage-quitting but it is very satisfying getting a podium finish let alone first place. The only gripe I have with the game is that the opponents don't get any charge-up times at the beginning of the race so I always end up getting EMP'd 2 seconds into a race and there are too many turns but that's probably just a skill issue on my part. 8 out of 10 EDIT: One more thing I forgot to mention, some tracks are very dark if your PC doesn't exactly meet the HDR Standard so I found myself hitting walls and missing jumps especially on the Moon DLC tracks. Score still stays the same though.

Redout is still THE BEST Landspeeder-Racer out there! It's arcade with a good portion of simulation. Compared to other speedracers like F-Zero and Wipeout you have more freedom in handling your sled. Steering alows for sensitive maneuvers and with some practice you will even get around sharp corners. The learning curve is quite steep in the beginning, but once you master the handling of your sled the way is free for the fastest and most exciting thrill of speed you can possibly get from a video game. My basic advice: anticipate the upcoming track and e. g. turn into the curve before you are actually there. Once you get that you will have a lot of fun with the game. Furthermore the spaceballs slogan "we brake for nobody" is king. Just take out a little bit of gas and in the middle of the corner press the boost button to propel yourself out of the corner (and away from the side walls). Finally: Redout II isn't bad, but it's much more arcade like. It lacks the sensitive maneuvering from Redout I. Thus, it's easier to learn in the beginning but less exciting on the long run.
