Oct. 2024

Overall an enjoyable sequel which has a bit more of an action-adventure bent than precursor with some new ways to interact and traverse. The shooting of the "dispensed" defense drones got a bit too much though. Favorite parts were some of the planetary vistas especially when landing on Neptune's moon. The score was also quite nice and had a certain John Williams/Star Wars-y vibe. If there is a Red Matter 3 at some point, I hope there will be a bigger focus on more space-goodness/exploration of alien vistas.

This is one of the better VR games I've played. It runs well even at very high-resolutions, has a decent story and good voice-acting, along with some very enjoyable gameplay. Note that it is extremely blurry out-of-the box, and you will definitely want to fix this: It is really the only negative for RM2; that the devs have applied an incredibly heavy amount of what I can only assume must be TAA, which blurs out all of the detail in the textures. I had to install Reshade and blast a massive amount of CAS into the title, and then it looked excellent. The textures actually have plenty of detail, you'll just never see it unless you sharpen the heck out of it.

Much like the first game I thought that this was amazing. A great use of VR mechanics, a creepy story that'll keep you immersed in the game, and stunning scenery! If you haven't played the first game I would recommend trying that first to add to the overall story and setting. The puzzles are not all easy but not difficult to the point you want to hit your head off the wall and it's not as short as the first title but still under 10 hours depending on how much you explore.

Red Matter 1 was one of the first VR games to blow my mind, and the sequel doesn't disappoint. My only complaint is the combat: I'm a huge fan of VR shooters, but RD2 has the worst gunplay I've ever enountered. I wish they'd stuck a liiiittle closer to their roots as a puzzle game and hadn't tried to veer into action territory.

I am years late to this game but I am FLOORED. The art style is incredible--I feel like I am INSIDE Atomic Heart. Not only that, but the story twists and turns in ways you won't predict. This is VR done right--an immersive story, puzzles, physics, and fun. Tons to explore and to find scattered across the world. It took me a few hours to complete the first game, but the second game was 3x the content and 3x the puzzles and 3x the story and 3x the INCREDIBLE AESTHETIC. Buy the original. Buy the sequel. You won't be disappointed
