Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth is a classic SNES-style metroidvania game set in the Lodoss of War world. We control Deedlit, a High elf who mysteriously appears in the Wonder Labyrinth as she attemps to uncover why she suddenly appeared there as well as why her former companions behave in an odd way. The gameplay itself is fairly simple and the entire game relies on the gimmick of switching between two elements: wind and fire, which could wear off if the game wasn't so short. The enemies, bosses and the very few challenges there are are not very hard either. The game is short, even if you attempt to 100% it shouldn't take more than 9-10 hours, and I mean 100% it, not only get all achievements (Although in this case, they're the one and same). Overall, if you want a somewhat succint, classic, metroidvania experience, this game could be your thing.

This is not like Symphony of the Night. It looks similar and has similar base mechanics but you will not have a nice relaxing time with this one. If you have fast reflexes and enjoy platformers, then this is for you. The main gameplay mechanic is switching between elements on the fly and getting hit will severely reduce your attack power - until you build it up again by hitting enemies with the opposite element. Once again - THIS IS NOT LIKE SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT. It's a good game that a lot of work clearly went into but it is NOT casual and you WILL have a bad time playing it with half a brain (like me) - good for some, not for others.

🧿 As a metroidvania fan, I can confidently say that this dev has some of the best games in the genre. This is what it means to copy the structure, but make it more perfect, and add new cool features on top. It attracts with its appearance, but it's an excellent comfortable game at the same time. Smooth controls, convenient unusual mechanics, balanced difficulty and fun! Unfortunately, it's quite short, about 6-7h to complete, but it's really good. A variety of melee & firearms, magic, a simple but charming plot for fans of the original anime, but even if you aren't familiar with it, this doesn't make it bad. Unless you might be wondering: “Who are all these people?” (because they aren't represented in the game.) It would be nice to have a more detailed optional prologue for those who accidentally stumble upon this pleasant miracle.

I barely recommend this. First half of the game was VERY good. Not really much exploration to be had, but the game feels great to play etc. It can be difficult to determine which mode, fire or wind, you are in, which I find frustrating when it is necessary to avoid certain boss attacks. What bugged me the most was bosses started feeling very samey. Everything after the first half is a two phase fight. A few of the bosses start with the same enemy first phase and transform in to the "real" boss second phase. By the end I had gathered so much money that I could buy healing potions to basically brute force the bosses. Weapons don't feel that balanced to me in that the weapon hit box played a much bigger role than any other stats. Sure this weapon is faster, does more damage etc, but the large weapons basically attack in a quarter circle, hitting stuff above/behind you and in front/below you. All the bosses are fair, but do so much damage per hit that they can feel unfair at first until you pick apart their rather simple attack patterns. Overall fun, but if the game had presented any sort of resistance/challenge to me, I think I would have put it down.
