The controls are all over the place, the gameplay loop revolves around your ability to remember which buttons does what (I panicked and threw my entire mag so many times :( ). It's pretty good, get it on a sale if you feel like getting a headache.

Receiver is an incredibly unique and engaging game with mechanics that really stand out. The focus on realism, especially with how you interact with the guns, is impressive. You have to manually operate each weapon, from ejecting magazines to chambering rounds, which creates a level of immersion that's rarely seen in games. The way you need to handle everything by yourself adds a tense, almost survival-like element to each encounter. The game’s minimalist approach and reliance on the player’s skill to manage everything makes it a fresh experience, especially for those who appreciate intricate mechanics. It’s definitely worth checking out for anyone who loves a challenge and enjoys a more hands-on, detailed approach to gameplay. 8/10 Highly recommend it for players who enjoy unique mechanics and a more involved experience.

I played this game a TON during high school, it was one of the games I could get to work on my old crappy laptop. My neighborhood friend and I would hook it up to the TV and see how far we could collect before the god damned stun drones got us, every single run. I still come back to it from time to time. IMO it's better than the sequel, because it doesn't have the needlessly cruel and stupid "promotion/demotion" mechanic (although that game everywhere else is a clear step up). If you play for a while the game starts to lag, but its still absolutely worth 5 bucks.

A really interesting and unique concept that's hard to learn but really satisfying to master once you've got the controls fixed up. The game has really..really bad default controls which you can gladly rebind to your liking which is what i did. I know next to nothing about how a weapon handles or operates yet once i was able to rebind the controls, take 5-10 min to learn those controls and pick a weapon of my choice then i felt the game started to finally hit the mark which is uncommon as it shouldn't really take that long to start enjoying it but giving time, patience aswell as understanding the type of game it is all without tutorials then i found it an engaging experience as i felt i was learning more along the way mainly how about a weapon operates. Alot of people may find it to be really hit or miss, and i do understand the flying drones feel abit too punishing while the turrets feel fair and balanced aswell as next to no tutorials on how the weapons or controls work is questionable but again once you spend time to learn it yourself aswell as customize to your liking then it starts to become really fun and challenging. A unique and interesting concept made in 7 days with the mindset of taking the usual FPS experience and changing it up to be more focused on how the firearm operates that all pays off into a satisfying outcome and i'd call it a success.

I found this game to be a lot of fun! A lot of people say it is very boring but this is only true for the first 2 minutes or so when you are getting shot at a lot and haven't learned the controls yet. There are also cheat codes, which do not require a console, as you can just type it while playing. God mode: iddqd, Slow motion: slomo, more ammo: idkfa.
