Probably the last game I bought the way games are supposed to be bought. Randomly went into a GameStop and went “the cover for this rocks, I'll just get it.” And god does it rock. Rayman 3 was one of the first games I had ever interacted with; I remember watching my dad play it when I was a kid. But Origins is wildly different from 3, and as the name confusingly implies, the game is not a prequel but simply a return to form. It’s the closest a Rayman game has ever come to consistency in the series, since almost none of the games are related or share any of the same characters past Rayman himself. Even Globox and the Teensies are absent every now and then. Origins is the first 2D game since the first (not counting spinoffs) and it looks gorgeous. The graphics here 100% influenced my art style throughout all of middle and high school. They’re zany and exaggerated; punching a friend in co-op sends their teeth and eyes flying all over for a couple frames. Level design can vary from chaotic and difficult to moody and atmospheric. The music is some of the best you’ll hear in a video game, and I remember spending long hours converting YouTube videos of the OST to MP3s. It just rocks. All of it rocks. I’ve gotten so much millage out of bringing the disc over to friends’ houses… While the difficulty boils down to memorization over any actual strategy, this game has brought me more joy than most.

🏆 Overall Score: 9/10 🏆 ⚔️ Gameplay ⚔️ ☐ Just bad ☐ Repetitive ☑ Fun ☑ Casual ☑ Challenging ☐ epic 📘 Story 📘 ☐ none ☐ Bad ☑ Alright (really crazy and weird story but cool I guess xD) ☐ Good ☐ Fantastic ✨ Graphics ✨ ☐ Bad ☐ Alright ☐ Good ☑ Beautiful (the backgrounds are so cool and whimsical and the blend of 2D and 3D works so well in this style, tho some of the sprites are mising legs and arms and that look weird but whatever) ☐ Breathtaking 🎶 Music 🎵 ☐ Bad ☐ Regular ☐ Good ☑ Relaxing ☑ Epic (every piece of music in this game is so iconic and fun, from calm tracks to bombastic boss music, the ones in Rayman Legends are better but just because there is way more) ☐ Repetitive ☠️ Difficulty ☠️ ☐ Boring ☐ Easy ☐ Regular ☑ Hard (it's easy to beat but hard to perfect I guess, it's really fun and challenging) ☐ Unfair 👾 Bugs 👾 ☐ Unplayable ☐ very Bugy ☐ bugy ☐ Speed-run/cheaty bugs ☑ bug free ⏳ Game time / Length ⌛ ☐ Tiny (0 - 3 hours) ☐ Short (5 - 10 hours) ☑ Average (10 - 20 hours) ☐ Long (30-50 hours) ☐ Grindy (60 -100 hours) ☐ One Piece (100+ hours) 💸 Buying Price 💸 ☑ Fair [Full Price] ☐ Pricy [wait for Sale] ☐ Unfair [borrow it from a friend] ☐ Don't even Bother ❎ Should you Buy? ✅ ☐ Please Don't ☐ Not really ☑ Yes ☐ Absolutely ☐ Must-Have 🙂My 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 Opinion🙃 I remember my uncle got me this game for my birthday on my PSVITA and it was freaking epic, one of my favourite plataformers of all time, It has so much diversity of levels with so little mechanics its actually genius, Legends is way better and expands on this game (not to mention it contains the same remastered levels) but this is just so iconic for the Rayman franchise, an absolute gem for plataformer lovers. Plus it has some of the first anime boobs/thighs I ever saw xD 10/10 Classic ⚜️

It's a great game but it's a shame how ubisoft doesn't give a damn about Rayman because all they care about is the rabbids and assassins creed.
