Officially one of my favorite games of all time. A mix between a top down stealth game, a fixed camera brawler, a rogue-like, and an extraction game. There's even a drop of devil may cry in there too. The whole game oozes style and personality. The art style, the music, the characters. Every single voice actor gave it their all in this. Very difficult, but eventually something just clicks, and everything makes sense.

Really fun gameplay, but I think needing to spend currency to play a level is annoying game design. Once you learn the general design of each level, they become pretty easy to clear- so having to go back and constantly replay the cheap levels every time you have a bad run is tedious and not fun. I feel like levels should be free to play, but you lose a percentage of your money every time you die. Makes failure similarly punishing, while also making it possible to progress through the game without wanting to shoot yourself of boredom from replaying the early levels for the millionth time. Still recommend, like I said the gameplay itself is incredibly fun, but it does have this one flaw EDIT: Im editing this review because my feelings towards the game have soured. I feel like the best way to put my feelings into context is with a single stat: only 21% of players have beaten the first boss and It doesn't take particularly long to get to it (I personally beat him in around 4 hours of game time). Assuming I'm around average skill level, this means that the overwhelming majority of players drop the game after only a few hours of game time. And thats a damn shame, because the game play here really is incredible, its just being hindered by incredibly annoying and tedious game design. I wont change my review to don't recommend because I think this game has a lot of potential and its worth trying out, but its frustrating how much the game design makes a really fun game really annoying to play

I will eat Grymite if someone likes this review. Also amazing game guys! it blew my pants off (reference to a cool voice actor) I really enjoy the music that Zack cooked up. I have never been the type to enjoy stealth games but this...my god. The stealth mixes so well with the combat. the combat has you shooting attacks out left and right. and as soon as the purge that is combat (the purge as in you are the one doing the purge-ing) It's back to sneaking around guards and trying your hardest not to get scrapped. Getting scrapped is the worst thing you could do in this game. you lose all of the gear that you have collected and you restart from the beginning. (translation: you literally die.)

I put more than 50 hours into the demo before the game even came out, and that has got to count for something. Raw Metal is the perfect blend of stealth and combat, both being very punishing but never unfair. During stealth, you play with a top-down perspective, sticking to shadows, using your gadgets to move guards out of the way, looting for gear, all that fun stuff. However, once you get caught, or initiate the fight yourself, the game transforms into a third-person brawler akin to Yakuza or Sifu. Those aforementioned gadgets and gear can greatly turn the tide in your favour, but they won't carry you - learning the fundamentals is still required to ensure that you've got a chance of getting anywhere. Aside from that, the core loop is built somewhat like a roguelite/extraction shooter dungeon crawler. You get loot to get more powerful, and can choose to bug out and store what you've got, or risk it and keep pressing on. It would also be amiss not to mention the stellar sound design. The blips of gadgets, the punchiness of combat, the banter between the guards — it all just clicks and sounds really good — and need I even mention that Zack Wilson absolutely cooked with the OST?
