It's a great game BUT it's short and there are chapters missing many years after release so the story is a big unknown gap. Such a shame really but understandable and I don't hold a grudge against the developers. They did a really good job with the little budget they had. I still recommend it though but you won't get a complete story.

Years after buying Rain of Reflections, I have finally been able to play it. This game crashes very hard on multiple generations of Intel graphics. The only reason I was able to get past the first section without a crash is because I bought an ATI eGPU, so buyer beware. The game itself is janky but interesting. It's a cross between a point-and-click adventure and a turn-based stealth game with a bunch of hacking minigames thrown in for good measure. Some of the mechanics really suck - you can't skip cutscenes or dialog, you have to quit the game to restart from a checkpoint if you blow a stealth section, the camera doesn't always go where you need it, and the "comms" hacking minigame is tremendously frustrating... but despite it all this is still worth a look if you are into sci-fi. You play an upper class scientist whose parents are movers and shakers in what appears to be a futuristic utopia, but even just in the game's first chapter there are a bunch of tantalizing reveals about what's actually going on. The best part of the game is the pacing, which gives the player space to breathe. You can just sit around looking at pretty stuff and listening to the excellent music, à la Life is Strange, which makes the world feel so much more authentic. Sadly the developers have abandoned the story, so we will never know what happens, but if you enjoy sci-fi and don't mind a cliffhanger it's still worth playing through what's there.

Short. "Three hours on the dot" short. Rain of Reflections is something of a proof of concept - but a concept that I very much enjoy and wish we saw more of. To my knowledge the series is on an indefinite hiatus, and rather than Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 we kinda got a very rushed little ending conversation with four different cliffhangers thrown in. The story is presented well, as is the world and almost all of the gameplay features and while the story isn't groundbreakingly original it is presented in a way where I wanted to learn all I could about it. Until that point it is a great game, though, and the only thing I found a little less than quality was, maybe, some of the audio mixing on dialogue when Luca becomes a companion and several achievement triggers not registering. Since the save system is practically nonexistent that was my largest frustration with Rain of Reflections. Besides that I am genuinely bummed that Lionbite didn't get the financial success they deserved for this one. Just seemed to slip through the cracks and the potential here for more is readily apparent.
