Me and a friend enjoy the multiplayer but its a bit buggy yet this classic gem is fun to play and we enjoy the Tycoon building. Devs if you see this what is happening is random tracks spawn on our maps. I know this is 2003 and back then there wasnt dev teams to fix glitches but you'll be amazed who's still playing your game. Thank you

Still the GOAT train management game. It doesn't have the intricate details of other games, you can't place signals or even quadruple track or anything, and there's invisible passing sidings everywhere, but this just streamlines the core gameplay of finding profitable industries, finding the best way to build track between them, financing, and then running trains. It's not a perfect smooth experience for this purpose; I think the ideal train game would make it easier to group trains and change cargo consists in bulk, but nothing I am aware of even comes close to being as smooth of a focused experience on this aspect of railroad management. Also, it's old as shit, and is a pain in the ass to get running on windows. It's plug and play on Linux though.

It's the best train game ever. The one and only downside is I wish there was a sequel or a proper game to replace it. Since it's over 20 years old now lol

While the city generation looks a bit odd, it still works better than any other railroad game. Cargo transportation is realistic, and trains are both realistic and unique. You can find new maps and a few other mods if you search, and you can also search about how to have this 20-year-old game work without crashing, which is not true of many 20-year-old games.

When it comes to Railroad Tycoon games; RRT3 is still the best there is, over 20 years after it's release. The gameplay mechanics are amazingly well-balanced and deeper than anything else that has come since. The music is timeless and still holds up. Every scenario is fun and offers it's own unique challenge. This is about as close as it is possible to get to the perfect railroad management game. Only issue with the game is a byproduct of it's age. It's unstable and does not look or run the way it's supposed to, but there are a list of mods that fix that and they're well worth the time to install to get this game looking and running it's best on modern machines.
