The Quest for Glory (originally Hero's Quest but they failed to trademark the name and someone else nabbed it - if memory serves me correct). This series is an absolute classic of the 3D adventure gaming genre. I grew up on Sierra Online and Lucasfilm games and loved all of them. I am currently on a trip through nostalgia and am enjoying a replay of all the old Sierra games. I am particularly enjoying my replay of QG1 & QG2. My overall rating of the series is high. QG1 is wonderful, QG2 is epic and is the best game in the series imho, QG3 is decent with great art and an interesting storyline, QG4 was mostly okay and worth a play but definitely marks the series descent with it bottoming-out in QG5 which I've never played through and basically dislike it because it deviated so much, both in gameplay and graphics, from the original (and ergo I can't comment on the plot because I never played it enough to know). Perhaps I would like QG5 if it was a different game not part of the QG series (meh). I wish they had just stopped at QG4 - like so many series (whether games, TV or films) sometimes creators just don't know when to stop. Overall, however, Quest for Glory is still one of the best games out there, in that genre. In general, I felt the Sierra games lost something when they moved from a parsing gameplay to point-and-click but some of the latest series were still decent and worth a play (KQ5, SQ4, QG3 & 4, etc.) but that's just my personal opinion.

I currently finished QG1 EGA edition, took me 14 hours. Some things were stupid like what you have to do in the thieves place. Some things are awesome like Erana's place, or a spell I haven't seen anywhere else, the trigger spell. This series is for old players. I can't remember when I played the 1st game, my cousin had it and gave it to me, but then I played the 2nd, the 3rd, and I remember playing the 4th in spring 1994. It feels like role playing: adventuring, leveling up skills, importing the character to the next adventures.

If you like old school retro games this is the O.G. RPG for you! I played this as a kid even before Microsoft Windows was out. It's pioneer games like this, that shaped the future of gaming with classes and customization of skill sets to level up in video games. This game has it all: combat, puzzles, and good narrative story.

“Quest for Glory” series of 5 games is a true classic from the 90s, a unique blend of point&click adventure and RPG. At the beginning you choose one of the three classes – fighter, mage or thief (and starting QfG3 also paladin); distribute skill points to your attributes (with an opportunity to create a hybrid class, like spellcasting thief), and then set out into the fantasy world to prove yourself a true hero. Game features classic adventuring elements like picking items and using them, solving problems that are heavily influenced by your class (e.g. when faced with a locked door, fighter will force it open, mage will use opening spell, and thief will pick the lock), and attributes determining your chance of success. The other facet is combat, with system that is a bit... adventurish, but it serves its purpose: kill monsters, improve skills, get loot, buy more stuff. Graphics are typical Sierra style, ranging from original EGA of the first two games (collection contains also VGA conversion of the first game, and for second you can download it for free from AGD Interactive), to classic and beautiful-looking VGA for third and fourth, to not very well executed attempt at 3D style in the fifth. QfG games were very popular among adventure players when they first came out, but younger players who enjoy retro games will undoubtedly find them entertaining as well.

They even have the VGA version of QFG 1 Look: the whole thing is worth it just to play the "hidden class" in QFG 4: Shadows of Darkness while John Rhys-Davies narrates the adventure. I don't think the charm of the game has aged, at all.
