Really interesting enemy and boss designs. I like how you can build your character in a couple of ways that may favor magic or more conventional weapons. I like how the levels aren't very large in hindsight, so when I did die during a level it was easy to realize where I messed up, what I had to do, what was in my way, etc. Overall, I really enjoyed this game, and hope the sequel gets out of early access sooner rather than later.

Short and sweet shooter. Pretty basic but a bit too easy, I was playing on hard and can easily one-shot 80% of enemies. Only became somewhat of a challenge on the last episode.

Project Warlock VIDEO REVIEW: https://youtu.be/wQLM-8oOPGk Words Review - 8 / 10 Project Warlock is an old school FPS / boomer shooter that is similar in a lot of ways with Wolfenstein 3D but more modern. There are refrences to classic FPS games in Project Warlock but it is it's own game for sure. It has the old school type of story where you get a picture and text at the end of each chapter just like in Doom. There are 5 chapters each with 5 world which each have 1 - 4 levels for 12 or so levels per chapter. You return to the hub work Workshop after each world and can then upgrade your weapons, stats or buy spells. You can also do a little "cheat" to fully heal (shown in video). The guns are okay in this game, you have the regular pistol, shotgun, SMG / minigun and rocket launcher but other cool weapons too like a laser rifle, flamethrower, crossbow and a bunch of melee weapons too. Every weapon can be upgraded (except for the sword) and altered slightly in how it works, for example the rocket launcher can be upgraded to also blast napalm everywhere upon explosion, or the crossbow can be turned into a ballista. The levels are decent and flow in a logical progression, each new world has different textures, different enemies and sometimes quite different level design. I got lost a few times but that's mostly due to the lackluster map. The map is one of those types where it's just a rotating little block in the top corner and there is no way to zoom in or open it up to full screen. The map also doesn't show the colors of doors or even where doors area, it's just rectangles and squares. One interesting feature (or oversight?) is that the map sometimes will show you secret rooms - but paying attention to the map is something that almost never happens. You will never look at it. The graphics were good, a nice old school pixel texture style to everything and a new look with each new world. Music was amazing in this game because each level has it's own track and for the most part they were alright and went well with the gameplay. Sound effects were good too, nothing to complain about there. One minor issue is that you can't save the game, it autosaves upon world completion. I am unsure if it saves between levels or if it's only between worlds, I think it's just between worlds. Another problem that can make this minor issue a major issue is that some levels you will load right into the line of fire with enemies already shooting at you, lol. I've actually never experienced this in a game before, there is like an unwritten rule with FPS games where if you start in a room with enemies they either have their backs turned to you or are out of visual range, but this game throws that rule into the toilet and shits on it, hahaha. Overall though it's a good game that was fun to play through. Like all my reviews this is exclusively for the single player campaign. There are other features in this as well such as playing individual levels or an endless mode, but I am really only ever interested in the campaigns. I would definitely recommend this game, it's worth playing for sure. I give it an 8 out of 10. There is a Project Warlock 2 currently in early access, I hope it is as good or better than than 1st one and will check it out once it is finished. Solid game, a couple of questionable pacing moments and surprise difficulty spikes, but overall a fun experience. Looks lovely on ultrawide resolutions and there's plenty of enemy variety that missions never became a slog to run through. Although the game is certainly a little rough, I felt that the overall quality of the animations, sound, art, and level designs were exceptional and not at all what I expected initially. Especially with how cheap it gets during sales, it's an easy recommend to add to your collection.

good game. lots of fun. it's a retro boomer shooter with guns, melee weapons, magic, explosives, etc. lots of levels. I wish you could return to earlier levels in the main game to gain more exp. good sound track. certain weapon upgrades need more detailed descriptions. I wish their was an undo button for the use of development points.
