Do you play sports games just to simulate the games and manage the team? Do you play college football games and do nothing but recruiting? Are you are a nerd that gets a rush out of a really dressed up spread sheet to project your imagination on? Then this is for you!

I tend to cycle between the big three(non-2K) wrestling booking sims, Journey of Wrestling, Total Extreme Wrestling, and Pro Wrestling Sim. PWS is currently the game that has the most time of the three, but if I'm being honest has not held my attention the most recently. I would still wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone who has an inkling of interest in wrestling booking, as this is probably the best entry point of the three games. Everything I say here comes with the note that this game is also the youngest of the three booking simulators I'll mention, but it has also been on steam for three years now and it's only fair to give this game its honest criticism at this point too. The developer is active in the community and is very reactive to community suggestions and bug reports- I remember the UI switch from numbers to letter grades for stats taking place over the period of 48-72 hours. This game is also infinitely easier to use than TEW and the load times are also a fraction of TEW's. This allows for a lot more booking and motivation to delve in to long term saves that often just doesn't exist with TEW in my personal opinion. Customization of the three games is easiest and best with this game as well, and the simple addition of a text bar for matches and angles infinitely increases your options for storytelling. If you're looking for a simulator to make long-term, in-depth stories than PWS is very likely you're best bet of the three. Depending on your style though, this blessing can also be a curse as this game can also take the longest to book your shows due to the lack of ready-made options for angles and matches. This has recently started to be fixed though with the addition of ready-to-go angles and you, like everything else in the game, can add your own or download mods from the workshop to add more to your game- but it'd still be nice to see more depth with the default game. Speaking of depth, that is currently my, and seemingly the community's, biggest criticism of this game. It took me a while to put my finger on what felt missing, as I have seen the developer (justifiably) voice frustration at people voicing that "it lacks depth" without expanding on what made it feel that way. The world you are simulating wrestling in feels empty, barring a few exceptions. There are now promotion wars that compare a few stats, and the winner will get a slight popularity boost and the loser the opposite, but that's about it. You can't form alliances that allow you anything more than borrowing each other's wrestlers, you can't impact any development of wrestlers and managers that you send down to promotions you may also own/subsidize, zero hall of fame systems, house shows only exist if you make a bare-bones unimportant show which negatively impacts a few points of development of your roster but if you put them on your normal and above shows will negatively impact the quality of those shows, contract negotiation is shallow and meaningless for the most part, title prestige doesn't really seem to mean much, etc etc. The booking aspect of this game is near perfect and easily the best of the three, it's the world surrounding this booking aspect now that needs the most work. I'd love to see updates focusing on expanding these shallow features(one on development brands, one on tournaments, etc etc.) A big example I can think of for the comparison of depth for these three games is random events, PWS does have a few, maybe someone gets caught on drugs or a couple has a divorce, but overall the world only moves on when you and AI book shows. In JoW you get thrown curveballs all the time- stars go part-time, wrestlers/managers catch a flu, your scouting staff has a family emergency and can't be used for a month, Saudi Arabia offers you a show that will cause controversy, and in TEW we've all heard about the infamous Kenny Deaths. Maybe my vision of what direction I was expecting this game to go in doesn't align with the developers, and that's okay because as a booking sim this game is still phenomenal and has obviously gotten 400+ hours of my time. TL;DR: If you're looking for a booking simulator to tell stories, this is your best booking sim option bar none. If you're looking for a booking sim that doubles as a business simulator, than JoW or TEW are much better options as it stands now.

Hulk Hogan died in my first year. Saved me a shit ton of money and didn't have to worry about him jumping ship if I didn't resign him.
