"GRIM?" no this is Prim, Primrose, or primula vulgaris. here is a very traditional point and click adventure game with full voice dialog. a full "grim dark" setting telling the story of the grim reaper (death) and his daughter's adventures. presented with a highly german expressionism style of tim burton art style, full of aesthetic angles and morose figures * the basics of a point and click are quite simple: look at thing for flavor text (voice dialog) interact with thing to see if it is usable grab thing into inventory if maybe it can be used later somwhere else (game mechanics) process of exhaustion - try thing with thing until thing works to progress * quality and narrative: visually the dark art is very well designed and animated well enough for its presentation the story compels you forward through interesting characters and vocals take a step back and read the story as a whole, a novel, it is quite good enough as itself * the adventuring story: through interactions and dialogs we gather a story movement around the world brings us new interactions and challenges puzzles or collectables sometimes detour our desires to progress * puzzles and minigames: no matter what these adventures often encounter some moon logical design choices a puzzle box isnt a puzzle without some thoughtful logic and frustration the concept of a minigame required to advance is much like requiring a round of gambling to afford some item in most adventure games. while simple enough with a bit of RnG and the LONG WAIT TIMES it just becomes a chore to get through to continue with the story... * game engine: UNITY. originally the demo presented a visplayer (visonaire game studio) adventure game there must have been some choice to adopt a higher level game engine, limitations present by the more rudimentary adventure visplayer engine https://youtu.be/BWJWnAq8t4E worked more or less flawlessly on GNU/Linux

Just the right type of Pratchett X Burton vibe that you get by looking at the screenshots. Bonafide (ho-ho) old school point and click fun.

Beautiful art style, good puzzles, never too hard, sometimes need a bit of thinking and the right idea, but that's all. Funny dialogues and good voices (speaking for the German version though). Had some good laughs. Could have been a tiny bit longer, probably 5-7 hours game time, up to 8 if you go for all achievements you may not have gotten in the first run (tip: do some manual savings here and there so you can jump back after the ending to go hunting for the last achievements). Glad I bought it, for me it was worth the price.

I’ve been waiting years for PRIM, and it was worth every moment of anticipation! From the instant I first heard about it, I was completely hooked. The game’s stunning hand-drawn aesthetic pulls you right into its wonderfully eerie atmosphere, creating a world that’s both haunting and charming. Each scene feels crafted with love and detail, giving PRIM a unique style that’s impossible to resist. The humor throughout the game, particularly the dad jokes, adds a playful, lighthearted twist that perfectly balances the gothic feel. The story has been gripping so far, with just the right balance of mystery and charm to keep you engaged. It’s refreshing to find a point-and-click game where the riddles are logical and fit so naturally into the storyline. Every challenge feels rewarding to solve and makes sense within the world, which really enhances the overall experience. One area that could use a little polish is the card game. While it's simple enough to pick up eventually, it’s initially a bit confusing because there isn’t a clear indication of whether a high or low number wins, or what the values mean. A small tutorial would go a long way in helping players understand the mechanics right from the start. Overall: If you’re into beautifully crafted, humor-filled adventures, PRIM is an absolute must-play. It’s been a joy to finally experience this game I’ve been eagerly waiting for, and I can’t recommend it enough!

I do not remember when i added this game to my wishlist. Got mail today: It got released! Anyway: No surprise HOW i decided to wishlist and buy the game - i am a sucker for the Artstyle. And it got released right on time, SPOOKTOBER. I also like the premise: Adventures of Deaths daughter. (Me, waves at Terry Pratchet) Given, i am just half an hour in the game but i like what i got. I also love to support indy games. And as a german i love to support a german indy company. I also love "Little Nightmares 1+2" and "Yomawari 1+2+3" Lets go, Get some hot cocoa and enjoy the story.
