Yes......I would be the last person you would expect to play a game like this. But in all honesty i love a good story with different paths and well designed characters. I also love Romance Stories and anime. This game is great. I have never really played a visual novel before but its been really interesting. I will definitely play more games in the future. At the time of this review, Ive only played through one path, But once i play more of the game ill change my review.

It's been quite a few months since I played through this and I can safely say it's had a lasting impact on me, I cannot recommend this VN enough. Even if Yuri or even romance in general isn't your thing, I REALLY recommend giving this a shot, it's a wonderful, genuinely heartfelt story about pursuing your own happiness, no matter where life takes you. If the story itself weren't enough, the voice work REALLY drives it home. A certain scene in particular had some of the most impressive VO I think I've heard in a long time, and had me reading through my tears. This has easily become one of my favorite stories, and I think of it fondly very often. On days when things get tough or difficult, stories like this live up to their namesake and remind you, to Please Be Happy.

This yuri visual novel is a masterpiece. It looks and sounds amazing, but the story telling and character development is just as impressive. It takes place in a fascinating urban fantasy world that you're going to want to see more of, and the character arcs for the MC and the two love interests are masterfully crafted. Even the three side stories are really good!

If there's ever a visual novel you want to check out to just relax and have a good time with, let it be this one. This game is so unapologetically comfy, it's almost illegal. To this day, it has one of my favorite stories in any game, and it remains squarely in my top five games of all time. Yes, I'm calling this a game. Visual novels are games, deal with it. If you have money to spare and are tempted to get this game, I say go for it. Before you know it, you'll be dragged into this fantastic world, hook line and sinker.

first and foremost, I AM PLEASED TO BE HAPPY AND HAPPY TO BE PLEASED BY THIS GAME ヽ(≧□≦)ノ so what initially made me buy please be happy as my first studio elan's paid game (yes, i didn't start with heart of the woods but now i'm more than confident to buy it and all of the visual novels they publish!)? one of the legendary yuri manhwa in existence: her tale of shim chong. seeing the first image of the traveler in hanbok immediately piqued my interest to give this game a try... and i was blown away by the storytelling along with the graphics. although it has nothing to do with historical yuri fiction (just miho's past), i'm still thankful that it has been an experience i'd never trade for anything else in the world. if you've read the manhwa i mentioned, you would know that it's viewed as more of a 'story with yuri' instead of 'yuri with story' in which the story revolves around a certain matter while the romance is secondary but plays an important role in how the plot dissolves to reach the finale. please be happy matches the 'story with yuri' description very well and shouldn't be undersold as a generic yuri visual novel. it's more than just two women kissing and making out... it's a story that deals with heavy themes that a soul shall go through in the cycle of life. overcoming grief is one of the heavy theme that both miho (the gumiho) and juliet (the vampire) undergo in the main plot. miho in particular is oblivious due to the fact that she barely has any social interaction prior to meeting juliet and aspen (the human) so she doesn't necessarily understand in the beginning but juliet becomes the ticking point when they visit a certain place (no, i won't spoil it). when miho goes through the three stages of grief (denial, anger and bargaining) immediately after running off, you can feel them. you can feel the intensity of how she had to come into terms with all those emotions in one go after searching for the traveler for years. when she reaches the fourth stage (depression) the next day, both juliet and aspen are understanding without dismissing how she felt. acceptance stage is truly the most beautiful part, it brought tears to my eyes... i really can't say more except that i too am thankful for the video call. juliet's grief as an immortal being is more predictable yet it brings a wave of reassurance that even though someone might no longer be with us physically, their legacy can still be continued with acts of services. the one revolving theme throughout this visual novel is kindness. from juliet offering her library as miho's home to aspen treating miho with drinks at the bellhouse cafe to miho passing along that same kindness with the people that she meets in her daily life. it's beautiful and refreshing to see the main character develop from what has been shown to her and not from what she's expected to be. from the start, she's been painted as morally grey and by meeting these two kind souls, they became a catalyst in how she would reciprocate those acts of kindness until the end of each route. i won't delve into the plot since it reveals a lot of spoilers if i do so (': acceptance also plays a role here especially in determining which character you would like to end up with. miho either accepts that she is ready to feel what love really is from a confession or to accept that something gone can be replaced with something that has always been beside her. the climax here really makes the readers riddled with anxiety... i was pretty much on edge even though i was going for juliet during my first playthrough. another acceptance plot that has already been predetermined by your chosen route is the bead miho adorns. even though there's no options, it still has an impact of who miho accepts to become in the near future and that itself is an intense yet gratifying moment to behold. of course we have to touch on the emotion that is clearly displayed in the title itself... happiness. from the store page description it says that this game has four happy endings and after having nearly 13 hours in-game, it's the truth. they are all fluffy happy endings which are still realistic (no we don't just suddenly have someone rising up from the dead nor are we meeting angels in heaven) and your choices do play a role in determining them. ultimately, happiness is being with the ones you love while remaining the person you've become and not sacrificing who you are for the sake of your partner. if anyone is wondering about the price, i'd say that it's worth it for the amount of hours spent in learning life lessons and the romantic moments between miho and juliet plus miho and aspen <3 to conclude, i do recommend it to everyone who enjoys reading visual novels regardless of it being sapphic. do not let the word yuri in the description for you to turn a blind eye... it's a beautifully written story a person should have a firsthand experience in (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) fun fact: if you've played 'A Date with Death' [url=https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3223903646] miho appears in an advert at the bottom left XD
