This game is much better than I expected. I played the first game many years ago too, but I felt like somenting was missing. However, a few years later, Plantera 2 came out and it far exceeded my expectations . The game is simple , runs smoothly on any computer, and is extremely cute . But I want to point out that it is a clicker game , so if you like games of this genre, I am sure you will love it . I love the fact that they kept many things from the first game, but improved them and made them much better. I wish the game had a few more settings, such as changing the resolution, because right now it feels like I'm playing on a smaller monitor. Is it worth buying? I can't speak for you, as this depends from person to person, but I got it on sale and it was absolutely worth it . My final rating for the game is: 9.5/10 .
Even more and better than the first entry! Full of charm and cute as hell. Great casual idle clicker game based around building a farm and chasing away pests. Really like the sprite work. Hoping for a 3rd entry! It is a bit short if using an auto clicker (which most people do in clicker games) to get hella bread from the roaming jousting knight. Still worth full price I think, to support the wonderful dev!
Plantera 2 is a proper followup to its predecessor, that expands on but doesn't deviate too far from the original. Just as before, the art style is cute without being cloying. The sounds are funny but not madness inducing. Similarly, the game's mechanics check more or less all of the requisite boxes for the genre in question. Plantera 2 has tangible progression, offline earnings, useful upgrades and (most importantly) a definite end. As I said in my review of the original game, the Plantera series (I can now call it that) provides a satisfying experience, which is in stark contrast to a entirely too many idle/incremental/clicker games. After 100%ing the achievements, there isn't too much to do late-game. A number of high level upgrades have a maximum value. It's pretty easy to hit those. There are a few multiplicative upgrades including offline earnings time that one can seemingly increment forever. I fire up the game once every couple weeks, primarily to see how far I can push these specific upgrades. Plantera 2 is not free or F2P, but unlike most of those games it doesn't waste your time (any more than an idle game is supposed to do.) There is no DLC other than the soundtrack, no in-game purchases. It's just game you buy, play and complete. It's a bit distressing that I need to underscore that point, but we're 15+ years into the "games as service" paradigm. Plantera 2 is a complete product at purchase, and I greatly appreciate that fact. I enjoyed this game enough to endorse it at its full price and think it's an instant buy when on sale. If VaragtP crank out a Plantera 3: The Platinum Porcupine in a few years, I'll probably buy that as well.
