A real classic by Key, and one of the safest choices if you want a short drama VN. Feels almost perfectly paced, with no scene wasted but also no part rushed. You might cry for the girl, you might cry for humanity, but even if you don’t cry at all, this is still a meaningful, thoughtful story to experience. The central planetarium scene in particular is just beautiful, both in presentation and its thematic implications. Post-apocalyptic settings are a dime a dozen in modern fiction, but you’d be hard-pressed to find one that conveys the tragedy of "what is" vs. "what could’ve been" so well. Also, while I can’t comment on the English translation, the original Japanese writing is great: rich, evocative, colorful yet not too flowery or indulgent (except maybe for a few military terms here and there).

Why don't you come to the planetarium...? Its a wonder in itself that Key managed to immerse me in a wonderful story in a such short time. Characters are lovely, the world is.. scary relatable?.. I recommend it to any VN lover! 10\10 would get sad about robot again

To be honest I wasn't very impressed by this game for majority of the chapters however towards the end I changed my mind, plus cried a river lmao which I didn't expect. I still consider my opinion on it as rather neutral but since it's simply due to my personal preferences I'll still recommend it. Though I must mention that I'm really glad to have bought it with a discounted price. Now my cons & pros: Pros: - setting-> I loveee depressing, futuristic, mecha, apocalypse concepts like that, I truly enjoyed whenever something about it was shown/ explained. - atmosphere, the game does a great job at creating a desperate, melancholic, hopeless atmosphere. - the last few chapters: the fight scene was amazing and intense, I wish there were more of those. The ending was beautiful too. - the contrast between the two characters and their experiences (I mean, one of them has likely experienced hell on earth meanwhile the other had no idea that the world is destroyed lol) - I liked the philosophical approach on the hierarchic relationship between humans and robots - the art is GORGEOUS. The CGs and especially the backgrounds are perfect. Cons/ Questionable: - short length-> recommended to buy during sale, otherwise somewhat overpriced, in my opinion. - lack of information/ lore -> that's just my personal preference but I'd love if there was more information about the protagonist and overall plot. Obviously plenty of aspects are left out on purpose which actually adds to the story's atmosphere and makes the reader question the plot, it's just that I like to directly get all important details lol. - I was disappointed that there weren't many opportunities to experience that whole apocalyptic setting. I also want to find out more about the intense background of the situation. - the UI is... odd, it doesn't impact the gameplay but the menu doesn't even show configuration which for some reason can only be accessed through right-click. There are also frequent, random pop-ups when saving and loading, again it's nothing to be mad about but it takes a bit to get used to. -the pacing felt rather stretched, most chapters felt somewhat repetitive and barely anything exciting happened but then during the last chapters there was sudden action and the (amazing) ending. I wish that the build-up was different and that there was more diversity at the beginning and middle of the game. In conclusion, I quite enjoyed the whole concept, however to me it lacks content. I believe the story could go on for a few more hours and show more flashbacks, make the player experience the past of when the disaster just started, provide more action, perhaps from other perspectives as well. It's a well-written, emotional story but altogether it felt a bit bland to me.

A fractured world that could only be healed with the light of the stars themselves. That light is Hoshino Yumemi, a robot frozen in time who seemed more human than most, she show’s the viewer and the junker Kizuya the beautiful twinkling of eternity which contained the hope and beauty that was reflective of humanity itself. Won’t you come to the planetarium to see all of the stars in the sky that are waiting for you?

Oof... how much can you cry about a robot? I feel like a complete idiot. But I absolutely loved it. After some getting used to the writing style and setting I was enjoying this story imensely. The voice acting is pretty good as well as the soundtrack and sound effects, it creates a good atmosphere. There isn't much to do of course, it's just a kinetic novel and you can read all of it in about 2,5 hours or less (I don't exactly remember how long the game idled in between), so honestly I think it's a bit overpriced. But I got it on sale some time ago and am not complaining.
