Still great even after several years.

This is a perfect game, and the soundtrack is one of the best electronic OSTs I've heard in a long time. It stands on its own as an album for sure. Especially the song "Hidden Foto Banks". Give that a listen But buy PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate instead. It contains this game, plus Part 2, both with enhanced graphics (even though I prefer the look of the original version).
