A competently built 2D platformer with some light metroidvania elements (upgrades you find in later stages pave the way to secret side paths in earlier stages that lead to further upgrades and collectables). Not too difficult outside of the final boss and extra stage/boss providing a healthy challenge (nothing like crazy kaizo stuff though). Charming characters, good quality spritework, tight controls, a well managed sense of exploration (while I didn't get everything, I did do some amount of backtracking because I wanted to see what new unlocks/dialogue I could find). All around a good experience outside of one particular "on rails" stage involving a car that's pretty tedious. You may also appreciate it more if you have "tired gamer" syndrome and just want a very classic feeling full-package experience that doesn't overstay its welcome.

Feels like a Team Ladybug metroidvania because it basically is one! Co-developed by "Ladybug" who I'm assuming is a core part of the team, and their games use the same engine this one does. If you enjoyed Touhou Luna Nights or Record of Lodoss War- Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth you will definitely enjoy this. Short and sweet, lots of secrets to find and cool movement. A sort of weekend metroidvania. Stage 4: Luxor is outright infuriating though and the owls that give you stone are one of the worst things I've encountered in the genre lol

Short and fun adventure, great characters & a narrative that actually had me surprisingly engaged. There's no reason not to play it, especially for how cheap it goes. Really impressive for a near one-man project.

A surprisingly good adventure - platformer. Is long enough. The bosses is quiet challenging. Especially if you do not use items. The characters and story for this kind of game is quiet good. The lvls and enemies are varied enough too with some secret paths or rooms here and there. I find the game to have enough variety in enemy design, lvl design or what you have of weapons/gadget to not be boring. It also has some humour, so recommended.

An odd hybrid of Metroidvania and more standard action platformers, Pharaoh Rebirth is surprisingly good, yet very overlooked. This is not a full-fledged Metroidvania, as it is divided into stages, but each stage is fairly large and packed with secrets. Many of these secrets will be inaccessible until you return with new abilities later in the game, which you will definitely want to do to power yourself up. I scoured each stage for hidden rooms, but didn't come close to finding them all. The action here is fast and frequent, and hard mode can be unforgiving, especially early in the game. Combat and controls are not quite as polished as some bigger-budget titles, but they get the job done. There are also a handful of set pieces that offer a change of pace, though one of these - a vehicle chase lined with death traps - does cross into frustration. I shouldn't have left this one unplayed in my library for so long. Recommended.
