This is pretty cool. The cute-goth-anime aesthetic drew me in along with its minialist UI and overall screen presentation. It has a unique battle system in that 4 slots fill up the round leaving two cards for your enemy to play, and then the other slots for you to play two cards of your own. The order in which these cards play change up in every round so you need to be strategic in which cards you play against your enemy's. So for instance slot 1 is empty and slot 2 has an enemy attack, you can play a guard card to reduce or mitigate the oncoming damage. If slot 3 is empty and slot 4 has enemy action that isn't offensive, then you get a free hit on them with whatever card you play in slot 3. The music is also nice even though it's just a different looping piano riff per section, with maybe just a bit of percussions and hints of other instruments playing a few subdued backing melodies.

I think this is a sufficient but clumsy diversion, although not especially compelling it presents enough novelty to be somewhat engaging for a time. The turn based combat is fairly unique and requires the player to constantly be making decisions, but there is little other interactivity in the game besides occasionally buying or discarding cards. Although not incredibly challenging, at least at first, the combat feels at least a bit effortful and thus it generally maintains a casual sense of engagement. While the player interface is compact it also tells the player absolutely nothing about any card effects unless the player hovers their cursor over the card icon. This forces the player to constantly have to manually check the written effect of each card as they gradually try to memorize them while playing the game. But since there are numerous cards that process will continue to haunt the player for any amount of time, wasting that time. Possibly for as long as they actually intend to play the game in its entirety. Sometimes the game does not actually register the player hovering over a card, forcing them to redo it. Players may also constantly gain new cards and are periodically forced to discard them if they go over their deck limit, which constitutes more of a chore than a decision. In general the game does not telegraph its information particularly well to the player as some elements such as the cooldown of cards, or how the duration of a status effect will impact the effect, are visually confusing. In the same vein players can acquire usable items but may only view them by opening an entirely separate element of the HUD, which makes it extremely easy for the player to forget usable items even exist at all in this game. Players can go into the options menu and toggle the item window visibility but they still have to scroll through it to peruse all their options. Meanwhile players can amass so many cards that they must scroll sideways through their card list in combat to view them all, which makes it easy for the player to forget they have more card options than is shown as well. The HUD in this game is just incredibly unhelpful and actively obscures crucial information behind needless and tedious micro chores. The game does have some unlocks to it, although the lack of Steam achievements is disappointing, but a decent amount of extended difficulty settings are available. Some elements of the visuals and presentation are reasonably effortful while others are extremely bare, such as random events that are just black screens with a bit of text. The game immediately opens with an aggressive tutorial that completely breaks the flow of immersion, but the actual story is barely coherent; with random lore documents that either explain nothing or are explanations void of context and thus are tantamount to nothing. The English version of this game is readable but is clearly unrefined, which can distort certain elements of the writing at times. Pretty much every being in this game can be placed into one of two categories; fantastical entities with otherworldly vibes, and some person with breasts. The extreme sexual undertones to the characterization and visual design would be less intrusive and less annoying if this was just an outright pornographic game, and honestly the experience would be more interesting if it was. In a game with a just barely passable amount of substance, little visual flair with clearly budgeted presentation and a story so incoherent and superficial it might as well not exist, the clear insertion of sexual bias feels especially shallow and misdirected. The decent turn based combat and the modicum of overarching unlocks offer a reasonable distraction for the player; yet it lacks much variety otherwise, the HUD is absurdly uncooperative and the overall world feels void of creative passion. The game is still playable and presents some amount of intrigue all the same, but remains largely forgettable otherwise. If you're interested in finding more games like this I've probably reviewed quite a few on my curator page [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/38950844-Anoemalous/] here .

Fun, albeit a bit shallow deckbuilder. Game is pretty easy up until Diamond 8 where there is a massive difficulty spike with modifiers that are frankly not really that fun. It's pretty rough entering a fight and dying before you get a chance to play a single card because the enemy gets to go first with two unknown cards. No Steam achievements is also bit of a bummer. Grab it on discount.

Really fun gameplay with gorgeous art!!! I think the soundtrack gets a little repetitive after a few runs in a row, but it's beautiful nonetheless. I played this game on mobile for a while before it started not working on my device; but I'm pleased to say that the game is a lot more fleshed out on steam!! If you came from the mobile game like I did, I can certainly recommend picking it up here for the new content it dishes out!! Love the developer, can't wait to play the second game once I fully finish this one!!
