Yes! If you have the 10fps while looking at a direction bug and own Nvidia GPU, disable "Threaded optimization" for your penumbra.exe in Nvidia Control Panel If your game crashes after the 1st cutscene, a possible fix is remove Penumbra Overture and reinstall Penumbra Black Plague

This was beyond amazing, the story was captivating and it really blend in with the first episode. Everything was answered in the final scene and it was really good, I am glad I decided to play this series for October 2024, I might try the next one too since now I am curious what happened and why it isn't that good. 9/10

Penumbra: No combat edition. A continuation of the storyline that started in Penumbra improved greatly in comparison to its predecessor by removing the awkward combat, while simultaneously deepening the creepy atmosphere that was later distilled to near perfection in Amnesia. Instead of fighting, running away and cowering in closets is the new modus operandi to get past the few horrible things separating us from the sometimes obtuse puzzles that make up the second half of the Penumbra formula. Don't get me wrong, I love me some good stealth sections, but in this game they hardly bring anything to the table. The puzzles worked fine, although a few of them felt a bit clunky in their problem solving and in this case I have a good friend who absolutely hated them, so be wary and know that your mileage may vary. The rest of the package is basically more of Penumbra with a pretty decent storyline and many nooks and crannies to explore. Slight recommendation, get it on sale, and since they are all bundled most of the time nowadays I assume that is one way of getting them all real cheap..

It starts off on the right foot: no more awkward combat, and instead, the only way the player can get rid of danger is by simply hiding: we can't defend ourselves anymore. Great! Penumbra: Black Plague is a more refined horror adventure, while a bit less grounded than its predecessor, Overture. The plot thickens, we see completely new environments, the creepiness factor is turned up to eleven, what's not to love here? Some puzzles also require some thinking, and directions also need to be followed, but unlike in Penumbra: Overture, the threat is permanent, so the player can't think straight, out of fear. Despite a couple of flaws, Penumbra: Black Plague is a terrifying horror game. And honestly? It's a better game than Penumbra: Overture was. WARNING: Without spoiling the events that transpire, at the ending section of the game, the screen will flash in white many times, which is an eyesore if one is playing the game at night, in the dark. Definitely brings the whole experience down, due to its trial and error nature, and the flashing of the screen each time the player fails the task.

A continuation of Overture, Black Plague is pretty much the same experience barring some much needed improvements like removing combat which made the original game pretty trivial. The game is also much scarier than the first with some great setpieces and enemy design along with a pretty neat story. Clarence may be a Walmart version of the Joker sometimes but he is still a respectable meme machine.
