Criminally underrated soul-like! I wholeheartedly suggest fans of the genre to try it out. While a mobile port, the game offers a lot of fun in my opinion - 7/10. On mobile I would give it 10/10. Pros: 1. good atmosphere and art design 2. level design is really good and interesting to explore 3. 5 characters you can play, each with its unique play-style 4. level progression is good, beyond the regular stats you got 4 skill trees and various charms you can upgrade 5. Combat has a combo system, allowing you to combine various moves which I really enjoyed. 6. Dual character system when you can switch between two characters and if you die you automatically continue with the second, which prolongs your journey before dying. 7. playtime is adequate, especially for a mobile port. (around 30-40 hours). 8. The plot is interesting enough to follow. Cons 1. Graphics are bad. Colors feel washed out. I used re-shade and scaling and it made it much more playable. 2. Voice acting is quite bad and dialog feels disconnected sometimes. 3. Combat can feel slow and clunky at times. Hitboxes can also feel off. Takes time to get used to it. 4. The main character (and another playable character) is super slow compared to the other three. Because of it, I mainly played the fast characters and rarely the main (only when the other one died).

Not a bad Soulslike. It might be on the easier side, and you have a lot of ways to improve your character to out-level enemies. Definitely some caveats, but also some good times. Combat Pace The main thing that should be noted about this game is how high-commitment the combat is. Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 are pretty high-commitment. You press a button and your character will do it, even after getting hit. With Pascal's Wager , the speed of combat feels slower than the first two DS games, so what your character does can have a longer lag between the input and the action on screen. Also, the game suffers from a general unresponsiveness. I'm not sure if recovery frames are lasting longer than expected, with no visual cue, or if the game just fails to register some inputs. Either way, the combat can feel very, very slow and deliberate. You'd have to be interested in a combat and exploration and movement pace that is a step slower than DS1/DS2 to enjoy this game. With all that said, the game isn't bad, and it has some quirky charms. Translation & Voice It's clear that the translators of the script do not have a fluent grasp of English. That's alright, because neither do the voice actors. Progression The game allows you to spend bones (souls) to increase your characters' stats. You can find or purchase items to gain new abilities or passive buffs. You can upgrade various charms to increase stats. For a challenge run, you can ignore all or most of this. And to out-level the difficulty, it doesn't take too long to get enough materials to increase your attack or defense. All together, it feels like a little much, but there are a lot of options. Conclusion This is a Soulslike that isn't mentioned that often. Probably because it started as a mobile game, so it's seen as "mobile Souls," but I think it transcends its mobile origin to be a decent game in its own regard. The lower-texture graphics are maybe the clearest remnant of being a mobile game, as everything looks a little blurry. But performance is fine, and the art style is good enough to compensate for the graphical fidelity. Overall, this is a decent Soulslike, and it's like $30-$40 less expensive than newer ones that aren't even as good in many areas.

TL;DR not bad for a mobile Wot I liked - If you are attentive you can spot some secrets here and there; - Maps are great mazes full of shortcuts and some secrets; - There are 5 classes that are quite different in playstyles; - There is a combo system; - The game tries to tell a story in earnest. The story is not bad; - Multiple endings; - DLCs got some nice new areas and game modes; - It is a working soulslike; - Impressive graphics for 2005. Wot I disliked - No customizable controls; - Combo system does not really work due to combat; - Combat system feels turgid and slightly unresponsive, hits do not connect, animations freeze up; - Some late-game bosses are horrible mostly cause they are not designed for a mobile game - they are real normal soulslike bosses unlike other bosses who are anemic pushovers; - You control 2 heroes but you can only choose the 2nd one. To sum it all up, from the first glance it is a bare-bones smartphone game. It is not outstanding or pretty or groundbreaking. But in most cases it works and if you are looking for another soulslike game to kill some time look no further!

Great souls-like game. I highly recommend it. The game has multiple characters that each have very different playstyles and multiple build customisation options in the form of stats, trophies, and talents. I like that each character has their own moveset and mechanics. Visuals and map designs are quite good too. I played through the main story up until the final boss - stopped here because I decided to farm up / level up in the TOO DLC before attempting them because they take a bit of time to learn and are on the difficult side of bosses.

despite the reviews, i enjoyed this game. i think the dark fantasy environment was fantastic, and the boss designs were cool. the story is pretty engaging, the level designs are pretty good and i think the game is very fairly priced for what you're getting. this would probs be a top 10 souls game for me if...the combat wasn't so slow, janky/buggy at times. if there was a graphical overhaul and they improved the combat with the potential this game already had, we'd be looking at an undercover souls-like gem. it was ported from mobile so that is something to keep in mind, however i liked playing as terrance but yeah, i really did like this game and it's pretty linear for the most part, i did a few side things but mostly kept it straight forward so i wouldn't burn out or get frusturated with the combat. the bosses are pretty easy for souls fans who are experienced, some of the regular enemies can be weird but other than that i think $20 is a good price and this game will now go in my log of "so much potential if just ONE/TWO little things here were improved. recommended for souls fans or those who enjoy slower paced slightly more challenging combat.
