I was scared at least 10 times, and that's already worth attention.

Paranormal HK's story is based around Hong Kong urban myths and offers about 2 to 4 hours of exploration, sneaking, and puzzle solving. On your way to escape the "Kowloon" Hong Kong Walled City, you can experience detailed and well done visual enviroments. Gameplaywise this is an "Outlast" style game, but with its own unique charm. The game flow is sweet for most, but there've been frustrating moments due to weird line of sight. "Short" walking sequences may feel annoying to you too, since the ability to sprint is blocked in those. To some extend, the puzzle logic could be more understandable and have better hints too. That said, I've really enjoyed my ~4 hours to complete game. It's not perfect by any means but if you're into horror games and you find the theme appealing - go for it! FYI: The games default setting is cantonese, so you have to change language settings. You can find a guide on steam for that, so that you know where to go at the menue. Also didn't like that there was no controller setting for axis sensitivity. Had no issues with crashes or something.

I've played horror games before, but none like this one. This one is different. It has something special, maybe because it's chinese? i don't know. One thing is certain. I learned some things about chinese culture. The game itself is scary, can be confusing at times, and likes to play with your head. It can surprise you when you least expect it. So, stay away from this game if you are faint hearted.

A great Asian horror experience. Honestly I do not get all the negative comments about this game, I think it was pretty well done in aspect like level design to sound design. The suspense in the game also gets you wondering what happens next (especially the pretty long office scene where you have to keep walking around and things happen bit by bit ). Some of the puzzles in the game also makes you put on your thinking cap, however I did not have the patience to solve certain puzzles and looked it up instead. Controls are also a bit janky. I found it hard to control the car in the parking lot scene, where you have to hit the ghost . Also the game starts up in Mandarin, so I had to go Google to figure out how to switch to English and it was a quick setting tweak, but the developers should have done this as a setting that the player has to tweak at the start of the game instead... Other than that, good job to Ghostpie Studio! Patiently waiting for ParanormalHK 2 if it's in the works
