simple strategy game with simultanous turns mechanics rich enough to be interesting but really simple compared to 4x etc. feels like a casual version of civilisation that takes 1h to play a full game

fun little game for 4x-fans. 1-2 hours playing time per match, I'd say. Don't expect too much depth though. Most of the time, you balance your expenses and improve your overal tile yields via an economic panel. There isn't any micro-management for cities, tile improvement or combat. After a while, you figure out which factions have simply the better boni and that's where it stops being interesting. I had a good time though.

Easy to learn, hard to master strategy game. Nothing too complicated, and a refreshing take on top-down strategy. Good if you just want something to play for a few minutes!

I just finished the (regular) game and completed all the achievements. So I spent an hour or two in the game ;-) I really liked the game, its simplicity, yet complexity in terms of strategy. It is a fresh concept and that you are able to finish a game in 30-60 min, is great. I would love to do the extra maps, but tbh, without achievements it feels lackluster. Not sure why the devs went against it, but I am very sure having achievements for the additional maps would make quite some gamers to buy them. If they ever do it, I will purchaus them for sure. The game itself as said is fun, refreshing and can be played in small portions.

Quick review to say: Yes. Buy. What's fun: It's a straightforward, well-presented, just-complex-enough, king-of-the-hill tango. Quick and satisfying. What will be hard to get at first: It will take you a min to get used to the UI, but you will soon see why they opted to utilize tabs, etc. It is perfectly done actually, quite thoughtful interface. As with most good things, give it a moment. Re these negative reviews: Some folks are leaving nonsensical reviews here, like: "It is obviously going for Civ" (why? bc there are civilizations in this game? It is an entirely different game.) -or- "Any nation that spawns on rivers has an overwhelming advantage over the other nations" (no one "spawns" ...starts are predefined and known. Plus many other things affect start advantage/disadvantage (i.e. size of initial city, starting tech, proximity to other nations, etc) and in every case all nations are playing a king-of-the-hill game... so if someone is doing well (from the start or later) then it is everyone's job to do their best to balance the board.
