This game is a gem. The game was ridden with issues on launch and it was simply not ok to release a game in that state. Let's put that aside and look at the actual gameplay. This is a looter shooter with a strong RPG emphasis. You choose a class, have skills and a talent tree. The gunplay feels amazing and the general feeling of the game is great. Although you could draw a parallell with Borderlands, I'd instead say that this is much more similar to an ARPG like Diablo since it's much more heavy on the RPG part then Borderlands. If you like to theory craft and make builds, you'll feel right at home here. If you're here solely for the gunplay action and you don't care about min-maxing builds then looks elsewhere. This confusion is probably the reason for the mixed review. The story is good and I love that they even spent time on cutscenes for side quests. All quests feel well crafted. The gameplay loop is very repetitive. You enter an area, clear it, move to next area. Repeat. I played it with friends, so we did not mind at all given how well the combat feels. I have a couple of hours of solo play, although most of my time is coop with friends. I don't recommend getting the game solely for solo play.

Playing this solo and I have to say its a great single player story game experience with some light RPG elements thrown in. Gunfights are excellent, story is quite good and general gameplay is top notch. I dont think I would enjoy playing this game with friends, its nice to play it at my own pace when I have time.

When I heard that the team behind Bulletstorm where making outriders I was looking forward to playing the game. I purchased Outriders on EPIC and played it and enjoyed it a lot and now own it on steam and I thoroughly recommend this 3rd person action game which is just great all round. Game engine is silky smooth in 4k Gunplay feels solid. The super powers are fun and powerful Loot system is great with a lot of customisation available. Sound is great. Story, dialogue and characters are great. People Can Fly know how to make quality, fun games for sure. A must play 9/10.

I had a lot of fun with this game, but overall, people seem divided. My suggestion: Try the demo. If you like the gameplay, consider that it's pretty much the same throughout the game. For my part, I enjoyed the gameplay, the story, the environments and the RPG elements. I recommend checking it out.

I mostly play looter-shooters (eg, Borderlands series) and ARPGs (PoE, Diablo, Grim Dawn, Last Epoch, etc). I started playing this game in late 2023, and I can't for the life of me understand why this game has such negative reviews and/or flies under the radar. The gameplay is intense, fluid, and really fun. The skills you get are really varied and allow for a wide range of playstyles. And the variety of weapon and armour mods is just outstanding, and there's a lot of fun in trying out new builds, etc. As an example, I'll point to the Trickster class. Slow Trap allows you to pause time in a bubble around you, and you can literally see bullets coming in and slowing down. Hunt the Prey allows you to teleport to other areas of the map and come up behind enemies. Time Rift throws enemies in front of you up in the air. Or you can go melee with Cyclone... etc. It's just... fun. Pros: - The 4 classes, which are really different in playstyle - The class skills, the mods you can use for those skills, and the varied gameplay they offer - The weapon and armour mod system - The class tree & PAX tree (if you got Worldslayer) - The variety of interactions across all this, and the way it just changes how you play the game - The voice acting, cut scenes, etc - The areas and the beautiful design - The relaxed approach to looting (you don't need to pick up stuff individually, you can just pick it all up pressing H, or it'll be auto picked up when leaving an area). This means you can go through an area, stay immersed in the action, and when you're done you take a break to look at the new stuff you got. Cons: - The storyline is not fantastic, it falls into very usual tropes and is somewhat predictable. But, that's very much like most blockbuster action movies nowadays. - The cover system, which is kinda pointless, and you mostly end up not using. I'd have loved there to be a way to jump over stuff, and free movement. - Pointless repetitive cutscenes, like when you're entering an area and it breaks to show you squeezing through 2 rocks or jumping across a ravine. Anyway, this game deserves to be played and enjoyed. It has the best loot & gameplay experience I ever experienced on a looter-shooter.
