In 2023, after 15 years of playing Football Manager, I felt a little tired and stopped playing it. One year later, I started to feel an itch to play some kind of manager game again. After some research, I discarded games like F1 Manager and Pro Cycling Manager and decided to give OOTP a chance. Some aspects of the game caught my attention: the statistical approach of baseball, the option to play without simulating the full matches, and the chance to create a fantasy league with fully fictional players (something I miss in FM). As an ordinary Brazilian guy, it was obvious that I would create an alternative league with the most popular soccer teams from Brazil and a promotion/relegation scheme. There was just one small problem: I knew nothing about baseball. It took me about two weeks to understand the basics of baseball, the most important stats, some pitching and lineup strategies, and the basics of game mechanics. I must sqy that there is still a lot to learn, you americans know how to complicate things. lol I'm now at a level where I feel secure(ish) determining my lineups and pitching staff and also doing some trading without feeling like I am screwing up. Loving the experience so far, it is very easy to get absorbed and forget that what is happening during the simulation is not real.

Nothing I love more than sitting down for a nice game of OOTP Baseball, hot dog and beer in hand, and I can get all the thrill of real life baseball as my bullpen throw away yet another lead. Highly recommended.

OOTP finally gets a necessary facelift. After a super stagnant half decade, 25 makes a great number of both tangible gameplay benefits and quality of life improvements in its crown jewel, primary mode. The player development lab is SHOCKINGLY well balanced. The meta will absolutely be turning corner outfielders into center fielders, but other than that this is far from busted and has a surprisingly wide variety of outcomes. They clearly put the time into this it deserves, and it provides the biggest shakeup in OOTP's already incredibly deep gameplay I've seen in my 6+ years of playing. The new color scheme is hideous and some UI decisions were certainly questionable (while others were pretty good!), other than that I'm really impressed. Great job, team. Just please make each of the 5 rating increments on the 20-80 scale different colors again or at least someone upload a workshop skin that does the same. The past few years if you were an offline only singleplayer player, I would not have recommended an upgrade. 25 has changed that, it's worth the upgrade, especially while it's 30% off on launch week.

Just buy it. If you like franchise mode in pretty much any sports game, OOTP is the cream of the crop when it comes to that genre. The game gets better and better every year, and the devs are some of the most supportive, responsive, and creative developers out there for this style of game. The OOTP forums are a goldmine and the devs respond to everything. I highly recommend buying this game, and attempting to join an online league. It's the best way to play the game and is one of the most competitive "franchise" experiences out there. My online league, PSD, is now on its 10th iteration of this game, and our league is better and more competitive than ever. Lastly, I play 2k hours + on every yearly addition to this game. From OOTP15 to OOTP 24, my lowest hours on any game was 1,500. I highly recommend this game to anyone and everyone with even the slightest interest in something like this. Support the devs and help them continue to build fantastic games.
