Going from Satisfactory to this made me appreciate the QoL features that Satisfactory has even more so, but comparing it to that polished masterpiece makes little sense. Its more like JUNKPUNK but with a Dwarven theme rather than that of a planetary terraform project - it has the same clumsy build system, the same annoying and in my opinion, inferior splitter/merger system and weirdly enough, i felt somewhat disoriented while manually mining for the initial ore veins. At the time i played, i came upon these issues/bugs: - Aligning buildings is a major annoyance as the hammer in your hand blocks a huge chunk of your vision, there's a lack of indication if your building aligns with the one next to it and grid snapping is basically non-existent or atleast didn't work for me as i'd expect it to work. - I dislike the splitter-merger system, it takes too much space and is simply worse than what other games offer, i personally think there's no reason to re-invent the wheel... even JUNKPUNK switches away from those when you go from scrap to high-tech. The only reason those splitters and mergers are usable at all is because the game doesn't have conveyor collision/restrictions, so you can phase them through buildings and have them do 180 degree twists at the beginning/end of the belt. - Belts and Minecart Tracks have a bug where it shows that a full length belt/track would cost you 20 resources, but when you place it, it only costs you 1 resource, honestly im inclined to believe that this bug is on purpose and thus actually a feature since the cost of belts and tracks would be astronomically high... - Minecarts should be more economical than belts, but they're only more economical when you use 3 export, 3 import (aka, 6 or more) stations in the same loop, you always have to build 2 tracks anyway, so you might aswell just built belts, because it costs the same as tracks minus the wood and you can just ditch stations, tracks and minecarts. (you'd only need stations if you export 12 miner output worth merged into 3 belts.) - Explosives (the demobomb and vaporizers) are somewhat fun to use, but its annoying that you have to build them, run a fuse from a detonator to the bomb and then run back to the detonator to blow it up, i kinda recommend to add a tool for remote detonation to skip this whole process... it makes it a lot less fun if the setup is unnecessary complicated... - The games auto-saving felt rather lag inducing, even with my high-end setup. I'll put it as recommended and hope for improvements since its EA, but i'd say that with the current system, having neat clean belts and factories as in the preview is unrealistic and really inefficient.

Just completed everything that is available in this early access stage of the game, that's every Kings Quest, Research items and all of the 26 achievements (flushing the toilet 1000 times for the final one is really cr-p). Had a few mishaps along the way but thanks to a very responsive dev (Deathwyrn) who helped me overcome my difficulties I got there in the end and it was extremely worthwhile. A great value for money game that even if nothing more were to be added it's still a great buy. Highly recommended and cannot wait for the next content to be added so I can start slaying a few Orcs, but watch out for those oversize Ogres, they're really nasty.

Orebound scratches an itch I didn't know I had. Part adventure, part factory construction, part base building/base defense....and all dwarf. And it's got trains (well, minecarts)! I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do; got the demo during last week's Steam showcase and was hooked about 5 minutes in. The demo, by the way, provided more hours of gameplay than a few full titles I know. When the EA version dropped a few days ago it was a no-brainer for me. I give it a hearty thumbs up for the simple fact that it combines most of what I love from other games, and does it pretty well. You're a dwarf with a mission to eventually find some special gems for three mucky-mucks, but to do that you have to first survive against the orcs and goblins, mine and smelt ore, build and expand your base, gradually automate the processes of manufacturing, and get rich. Is it perfect? No, it's EA and there are bugs, but the devs are responsive and maintain a robust presence on discord, and they push hotfixes often enough that you can see they're serious about polishing the game. If you're slightly interested and wonder if you should buy it, take the no-risk route and play the demo. If you enjoy Satisfactory / Valheim / No Man's Sky, you'll likely end up buying it. Did I mention fully deformable terrain?

This is the game that Return to Moria should have been. This is however an early access game - you should only buy it if you enjoy it in its current state. Having played a lot of the game in the demo (which is very expansive, dozens of hours of content, big recommend), I wholeheartedly recommend this game to all automation and dwarfhold lovers, clearly made by dwarf and automation game lovers. It mixes automation and survival game mechanics that reminds me of the Letter of the Law book in a beautiful blend of dwarf fantasy steampunk goodness. There are some notes however, this is a very, very early access game, very much still in production and still missing many of the quality of life features we've come to expect from many factory games. Multiplayer coop is in the works but not yet a reality, planned before launch according to the developers.

If minecraft and deep rock galactic had a love child, this might it. Potential for greatness is definitely there, it has been fun so far.
