Orc Must Die 3 is... I would say the easiest entry out of previous series. A lot of traps are dumbed down, weapons are insanely stronger. There are not many orcs that are resistant to specific types. It is very easy to cheese through the whole level with the traps, especially on Lord Rift difficulty as it pushes you to the limit. Overall, it's not really that bad of a game. I genuinely enjoyed it, it is also not that incredibly co-op centric like OMD2 but it sure is an enjoyable experience for newer player that wants to get into the game.

Proper continuation of the previous version including some new mechanics (base game and 2 dlc-s review). - I liked the campaign and the humor of the characters - More than 20 maps with great environment (except that sewer map I don't like those :P) - New and old weapons, traps, etc. with different upgrades - I liked the war scenario maps which were more monumental with the gigantic weapons. - More playable characters with unique abilities and weapons - Many games modes like endless, weekly quests, coop, etc. - I preordered the game and there were only minimal technical problems on day zero and the optimalization is good and containing a proper graphic upgrade - I liked the reset mechanism and I can try different traps for the maps and I need to get points to upgrade weapons which may inspire people to play more - No more minus points if your character dies +++ - Winning the maps is "easy" but to make it without losing any points is can be a challenge on harder levels. The game included a great amount of content with great price/content ratio. Maybe a dynamically changing level would be fun like destruction, etc.

Compared to OMD1, the level design has less ways to play your own way. Many of the levels didn't have a single place for a wall trap that didn't need a barricade, and just as many others lacked ceilings. Lots of stairs, and still no stair traps. This led me to rely on Guardian Archers and Barricades far more than was enjoyable. There's also a lack of consistency in difficulty compared to the first game, you'll notice it sharply at the Dragon Boneyard. Trap balance is really everywhere (looking at you overpowered frost dart spinner). Flyers are also absent for the main campaign entirely, only the secondary short campaign has them and fixates on their inclusion, weird choice. Compared to OMD2, the story is a touch dull and the environments lack charm. Characters don't grow, even if this seems like a coming of age story for the apprentices. The morals and motives of the Warmages are completely unchallenged except for a credits roll gag. The exclusion of certain traps were sad to see; I get it though the game is much higher fidelity with the war scenario traps taking up even more development. Less kobold sappers/barricade destroyers are around than in OMD2, with more predictable spawns for when they are around. Honestly I don't like how easy it made barricades to use, and you can't place Knights or Dwarves around as an alternative either (Knights return in war scenarios, but they can only be placed outside forts). Looking back now, OMD2 is still my favourite release in the series. Compared to OMD Unchained, the Male & Female Warmages didn't really stand out as impactful characters in the available roster. The main protagonists have locked slots for their signature weapons, but you can have the same character twice in coop and even pick the other's character's signature weapon. Now I'm all for cool characters being the reason for cool stuff, but I like blank-slate characters to be choices too. When the core game revolves around choosing a loadout, the "except this slot" really stands out and punishes exploration of the other weapons. All that said, OMD3 has a lot of new features and the most orcs yet. The most tower defence the series has gotten to date, but there's not a lot of additions to support the wall-less, ceiling-less, stair-heavy open ground levels (the incentive is to use barricade mazes). For those who like alternate game modes, OMD3 has many challenge modes for when you're done with the campaign. Legacy levels are not included like they were previously for owners of the previous games however, big miss. All said, Robot Entertainment returned to form and did deliver what makes OMD an easy favourite.

After completing the main campaign and both DLCs on the highest difficulty (Rift Lord), here's my review of Orcs Must Die! 3. If you have played Orcs Must Die! 2, especially recently, you will feel right at home. Orcs Must Die! 3 brings a Tower and Hero Defense gameplay quite similar to its predecessor, with a handful of new nuances. Besides the visual update, staying loyal to the art style of the previous entries, here's what you can expect from Orcs Must Die! 3: Perhaps the most notable feature is the new War Scenario maps. These maps offer larger orc invasions, unique traps only available to them, and a one-of-a-kind enemy at the end of the level. Although there is only a handful of War Scenario maps available, and they do not offer an endless mode variant, it is a decent and welcome addition to the already available roster of maps. New and changed traps. Ceiling Laser, Gravity Pillar, and Window of Butterflies are just a few of the new normal traps. My personal favorite War Scenario-only traps are the Rapid Fire Ballista and the Mega Boom Barrel Launcher, which are traps that can be mounted and used by the player. Two DLCs, Cold as Eyes and Tipping the Scales, which feature 3 and 5 new maps, respectively. There is not much going on in these DLCs. Cold as Eyes is just Orcs Must Die! Cyclops Reskinâ„¢ in a winter setting, with a couple of new enemies, while Tipping the Scales is just Lizards Must Die! in a desert setting. There is a total of 5 characters to choose from once you start progressing through the game. What separates these characters are their abilities which are activated by tapping the jump button twice. From my personal experience, none of these abilities bring any meaningful, or game-changing qualities to the game. I believe the devs just wanted to add some additional flavor to the game, like the "play dead" ability from Master Cygnus, which does exactly what you expect it to do, reminiscent of the intro from Orcs Must Die! 2. Scramble mode. Select buffs and debuffs as you complete a total of 5 maps to earn the highest score possible. Buffs include cheaper traps, lower trap CDs, more weapon damage, etc. Debuffs include more orc damage, mountain trolls and gnolls on every wave, and similar generic and unique hazards. With a total of 18 maps from the base game, and 8 from the DLCs, there is a lot of fun to be had from trying out unique trap combinations, higher difficulties, scramble, and endless modes! Everyone who enjoyed the previous entries will have a great time playing this game, which, ultimately, feels more like an expansion than anything else.

New heroes are a little bland, but the game still plays well and is a great time.
