One of the best roguelikes out there! I got over 70 hours of gameplay for just $5 when it and the DLC were on sale, an incredible deal for the content it offers. Also despite it being an older game, the developers still release updates to fix any major bugs/issues, which i really respect.

The game takes such an interesting idea and runs with it. It's a unique experience and for a game that came out in 2014 it's one that is still very much worth playing. The price is down right crazy for the quality of the product being sold.

Aggravating, hard, bizarre, strange. Detractors may call this game any of those things, and honestly, they're right, but they fail to mention that it's also addictive, rewarding, and encourages deep strategy, as well as casual play. Sure, you might lose on your best run to finish a quest because you got snuck up on by a very angry, rock throwing goblin. Or you might reach unseen heights and events, and get further than you've ever thought possible. The game can be a pain. But man, is it a good pain. Highly recommend.

Very fun game and addictive when you get the hang of it. It can be somewhat repetitive when you have been playing a while but I don't consider that a bad thing. When you want to chill out and drop some hours in to a fun game, discover some new worlds and armor, etc, this is a great fun game.

You ever wake up and go “wow, I really want to play a scrolling roguelike with RPG elements, a bunch of fun things to unlock, various levels of challenge, and a story with multiple endings”? No? Well, One Way Heroics is a few MB in size, goes on sale often, and is an absolute blast of a relatively unique game, and I say it’s worth trying anyways. Neat features include: - Turn-based combat - While each character inventory is limited, there is also an inventory that is shared between all your characters. You can draw items or add items to the vault. If your current run ends in any way, you can throw items into it to save them for future characters. - You can watch replays of your runs, everything is recorded extensively so you can put the game down for a while and return to it knowing where you were, and what you got before - Randomly generated worlds, though the are set seeds and such - Game modes - A story with multiple endings and alternative outcomes depending on your choices/etc. - You can get allies! Companions have stories! - Quite deep game mechanics overall, this can be overwhelming at first however - There’s characters! - Each session is short, you can pick it up and just do a 20-60 minute playthrough once in a while - You get points for each play, even if you die, which allows you to unlock more stuff - There is SO much to discover! - It can play on almost anything It should be noted that One Way Heroics Plus adds a lot of QoL improvements and such. If you get the base game and enjoy what’s there, you’ll enjoy Plus even more. I spent a ton of time on the base game since I wasn’t sure I would enjoy it at first, and then got Plus later since I quite enjoyed it. There’s unfortunately not a lot of information about this game, and it takes a bit of learning and poking around to understand things. It’s notable that it’s overall quite hard and can be hard to get into, especially if you’re not a big fan of roguelikes, but there is a feast here if you’re willing to throw a fork in. And it’s still getting some updates to this day.
