So glad the 3D version came to steam. The 2D port, 'School Days', is nowhere near as good. Now all we need is the 3D version of hard time and we'll be in business.

Yes it's an alright game, however unlike some of MDickie's previous games you can't be a murderous psychopath in this sandbox, merely a crazy lunatic that beats people until they end up in hospital! Memes aside, it's got some cool ideas, the big problem I think this game has stems from the dialogue system, as dialogue from other characters is far too frequent leading to constant interruptions whilst the ingame clock continues to tick down, ontop of dialogue transitioning from one line of dialogue to the next far too slowly which leads to the player wasting usually up to 30 minutes of ingame world time if they had a particularly longer conversation with a character than usual. This is only made much worse for the core premise of the game as time is not only never paused during dialogue but it moves too quickly so you as the player can't actually do the classes or their tests unless you're there on the spot as soon as class begins. MDickie should probably make ingame days last twice as long, that'd give people enough time to actually interact with the game's world properly without rushing everywhere and barely getting anything done with it's very limiting and restrictive timer. The game also needs a bit more added to it to set it apart from Wrestling Empire both map-wise and feature-wise. But at this point I'm actually surprised MDickie just hasn't made a bigger game combining all the elements and features of Hard Time, Old School, Wrestling Empire and some of his other works into one big 'life universe' sandbox game with his own spin on it, I think that's what I'd like to see next.

MDickie has done it again. Forget Baldur's Gate. Forget Alan Wake 2. Forget any work of art you've experienced either in or out of gaming, quite frankly. Old School is the absolute pinnacle of narrative achievement across the media landscape -- and it's a game that plays like absolute butter to boot. MDickie has ascended to the sparsely-filled ranks of games industry auteurs among the likes of Kojima, Suda, and Schafer. The fact that he's selling this game for a mere $15 is pure charity. Anyone who skips out on Old School is doing themselves a disservice.

My Old School mom told me to beat down a kindergartner for the family. I spotted the little twerp on the streets outside my house, far away from school, and gave him a good toss over the shoulder. Sadly, it was 8:20 AM, which meant that school law was in session, so my math teacher promptly pile drived me into the pavement and dragged me into the principal's office for assault. Having learned my lesson, I waited until after school hours to attack the munchkin again. I ran him over with a bicycle, which promptly fell to pieces. Then I finished him off by beating him with a tennis racket until he had 0 health left and the success prompt finally appeared. The kindergartner has not been seen since. My mom was so proud and gave me $20 for the hit. Then I tripped when getting off the bed and crashed into her on the way down. Mom refuses to speak to me now and occasionally smashes the bed while I'm sleeping on it out of spite. This makes my school friends appear to defend me, and they all start beating the bajeebus out of each other. Where am I going with this story? Hell if I know, but Old School certainly has its entertaining moments. And there's something about school going on too.
