Oh... Sir! The Insult Simulator is an absolutely hilarious game which revolves around hurling insults at your opponent to damage their pride. But there's a lot more strategy than just spitting vulgarities at your adversary! You have to constantly be on the lookout for phrases which your foe is sensitive to (e.g. Mr J. Shufflebottom is insecure about his fashion; "...your sense of style..." ), while also being on-guard of your own vulnerabilities and snapping them up before your rival. In addition, you can use one topic ("your father" for example) consecutively over multiple insults to get a COMBO which has its own bonus damage. On top of that, insults can be RUDE, especially if a special ending ("...and you can't deny it!") is used. You also have your own personal hand (the teacup) to draw insults from, which often can be one specific to your character, along with phrases pertinent to the topic at hand ("a dead parrot") giving a bonus if used right. You can also use a "(...)" which allows you to bring your insult into the next turn... however you run the risk of losing it if you take too much damage!! All of these mechanics can be chained together to create the ultimate insult, and overall this game is a blast... especially when played with friends (either locally or online). The singleplayer mode is... a bit of a RNG-fest but isn't too much to complain about. Additionally, Oh... Sir runs on just about anything, so this is an enjoyable game for everyone across the walks of hardware specs. For $1.99 at the time of this review? Absolutely worth it!

A fun game with an interesting visual style. The gameplay somewhat reminded me of the sword duels from Monkey Island. While the mechanics are different, the core idea is similar. Unfortunately, the game gets boring quickly because there aren’t that many words, and creating elaborate insults rarely works out. Still, if you grab it at a steep discount, it can keep you entertained for a couple of hours. Runs well on the Deck.

This is a fun game about compiling insults in a gentleman's competition. It has a few different levels that add different words to the dictionary, and quite a few pop culture references. I love the game purely from a gameplay and art perspective... HOWEVER. If you are an achievment hunter, I would avoid this game like the plague. There are a couple of acheievments purely at the mercy of RNG, and you could get lucky and get them in your normal playthrough, or you could be like me and solo play couch co op and sink more than 30 hours into hoping a specific combination of words appears. As of writing this review, I still haven't gotten 'Your wife is interested in photography nudge nudge!'. Once an hour i can maybe get Your wife is interested in photography but I never seem to get nudge nudge before there no longer is a (...) to hold it to the next round. Its a nightmare achievement. I praised Morgan Freeman when I finally got 'Your beloved auntie worked with the Nazis', and since have mentioned Satan 66 times for that achievement. (They thankfully nerfed that one down from being 666, i can imagine the grinding pain to get that one) and I only have left this one last achievment that has taken me dozens of hours.

Such a shame that they didn't expand on this game further, because it's actually quite brilliant. However, it does get a bit old fairly quickly. Also, nobody plays this game online anymore, so it's impossible to unlock the final characters or get the last achievements unless you manage to flag someone down in the discussion forums. Worth the price, but maybe wait until it goes on sale.
