Life simulator. lol Certainly. Market-based games are few are far between. This is certainly a gem find of a game. TFW when something crashes and you have restructure your entire base or lose. Like you build stuff in a betting way, like I bet I can capitalize on iron and control the price. Then someone blows up your iron mine, and the plan you had was crushed in seconds. Your competition starts pulling away and you go further in debt and its like, this can't be like my actual life. LMFAO.

I've played about 25 hours of this game. I doubt it's a game I'll keep playing long-term, but I've had a good time. It took me TOO LONG to fully understand that this isn't the sort of game where you're doing resource management and expansion in a general sense. It's all about treating everything as commodities and making favorable trades and manipulating the market in your favor. That's it. And it's fun! People have likened it to an RTS and technically it's real-time and involves strategy, but it has little in common with historical examples of the genre. It's about optimization much more than expansion. It's about responding to market conditions. You are never producing anything like "units", only money. There's a little bit of competition over resources, but that resource competition is very static. There's no way of taking over an opponent's resource tiles, you just have to beat them to it by getting in as early as possible. Learn these lessons and you'll be well on your way to buying out the competition.

I didn't know what to think when I was told to look at this game. But playing it, I realised this game is the spiritual successor to M.U.L.E. that I've been looking for most of my life. I enjoy it a lot so far, although like other people have posted in the reviews before, I do feel like I default to almost the same strategy no matter what in my campaign play -- but because of how different the environment and resources are every match, it doesn't end up feeling that samey -- yet.
