This is one of the GOATs. I've beaten it over 20 times and still have NEVER gotten all 300 Muds. If I can't make up my mind on what to play this is always in mind for a replay. 10/10 please play this.

An exceptional sequel to an already brilliant game. It’s absolutely incredible how well they managed to improve and expand upon what made the original so good. The variety is perfect (so many cool new mechanics, from controlling Glukkons to possessing and exploding your own farts), the difficulty is perfect (Oddysee was a tad too tight at times, but here everything is timed just right), the mood is perfect (more comfy and adventurous yet without sacrificing the meaningful parts), the worldbuilding is perfect (every location is memorable and further enriches the setting). Even the visuals are perfect, in their own old-school way; they may be pixelated and lacking in colors by modern standards, but their atmosphere is palpable. Granted, I may be rose-tinted in my assessments, since getting a double CD case of Exoddus for PS1 on my birthday is among my fondest childhood memories. But I’ve since replayed it multiple times under different circumstances, and even when I try to apply my most analytical modern sensibilities, it still holds up 100%. Perhaps this game was more of a lucky happenstance or a display of individual brilliance among the team rather than a result of carefully planned design, considering that its own lead developer still dislikes it to this day. Perhaps, if you’re willing to get more dramatic or poetic, the series paid for such happenstance dearly, considering how Munch and Stranger turned out. Regardless, I would still call it a timeless masterpiece and recommend to anyone who’s at least slightly interested in puzzle platformers. You really did have twice ze flavor, guys.

10\10 Great Game! I really think this would hold up even for people who don't have the nostalgia of playing this as a kid. It's set in a unique and interesting universe. The game doesn't take itself too seriously, which contrasts the darkness and drab of the atmosphere. The game is a poignant metaphor that is still relevant today, and it allows you to play as the rebel rousing kick ass hero. The platforming and level design is creative and interesting, even for today's standards, and there are tons of mechanics that keep the 20-30 hour game interesting. Some of the puzzles and controls can be a little frustrating, especially with this being a port from play station, but rest assured that every section can be completed with a little patience and out of the box thinking. It's a good game, and I'll probably play their others after having rediscovered this classic!

"Objectively" the best Oddworld game, even if I prefer Stranger's Wrath, New 'n' Tasty and Soulstorm. But make no mistake, this is classic stealth platforming at its best, and it absolutely blows its predecessor out of the water. The repetition, claustrophobia and unreactivity of of Abe's Oddysee is solved with a quicksave feature that reduces iteration time, a wider variety of locales, dozens of new mechanics, more space given in each area, a far smoother and more friendly gamespeak system, and less beginner-trap laden level design. Topped off with a soundtrack that fits the game like a glove and a healthy sense of humour, this game has all you'd want from this genre. That being said, there are problems. I may ha praised the more open spaces, but quite frequently you'll find that they're too wide, leaving to a lot of time spent holding a direction and the run button with little to see or do. This plays into the game's terrible pacing, almost every area overstays its welcome. Remember what I said about the greater area variety. About that, the first half of the game almost entirely takes place is same-looking cold coloured caverns, and the gameplay is too slow/too repetitive to make up for it. Story wise, this game has perhaps the least to say out of all the series. By no means distractingly bad, and it is entertaining on its own terms, but not as deep as what the other games have.
