Noob is a charming game with a gorgeous, seemingly endless landscape that’s genuinely fun to explore. I loved being able to pick herbs, fish, and mine along the way — those little side activities make the world feel alive. The music is good (not great), but it fits the vibe well enough. Combat is where things start to wobble. Battles feel slow, and once the fight is over, I don’t need the long pause, the victory dance, and then the credits. The game gives you a lot of battle options, but if only one or two are actually useful, the rest end up feeling like fluff. One character hits all enemies with the same power, while the next can only hit one — the balance feels off. I don’t usually play online games, so the back‑and‑forth between the characters’ real lives and their in‑game lives was interesting and well done. But in the real‑life sections, I often had no idea where anything was. Wandering around for twenty minutes swearing at the screen isn’t my idea of fun. My biggest frustration is how formulaic the progression is. You can’t level more than ten levels per story arc. You can grind all you want, but once you hit that cap, you’re stuck. You’re forced into the exact difficulty curve the game wants, with no way to over‑level and ease the pressure for the next mission. You never get to feel powerful — you’re always a Noob. For me, that’s a major downside. So the weaknesses are clear: Too much wandering without direction Slow battle pacing A rigid, formulaic leveling system that limits player freedom But if you can work around those issues, the game is a cute, fun, and satisfying ride. The opening is sweet, slow, and welcoming — a great transition into the tougher parts. I do wish weapon shops had more variety, and the houses could have… well, let’s just say it presents a fine opportunity to entertain adults. Important addition: I am not driven to play this game and I'm level 50. Some games level 4 and I'm so hooked I can't sleep. This game I could stop anytime. I think that's the result of the level cap and lack of growth/freedom. Overall, Noob has heart, charm, and a world worth exploring — even if it occasionally gets in its own way. Update around level 95 - the missions, quests etc. are feeling like more work than play. The reason is as previously noted I'm directed to do things so I'm not freely exploring and discovering instead I'm told to go talk to such and such which means changing guild alliance, finding transport or location etc. It's work. Boo hoo I just want to play.
