The controls are wrong by default. Go into the options menu, and set the controls to type E to make the game play like every other game in the series. Aside from that, not much to complain about. It's the same game it was back then. A bit contentious for a Ninja Gaiden game, but still an incredibly fun action game all the same. Losing the multiplayer is a bummer, though.

Weakest entry in the NG series in term of bosses, enemies and level design but one of the Best combat loop in the NG series.

Ryu Hayabusa isn't a sigma in this one, he edged too much and his arm swelled up. He's also sponsored by Razor, bro really fell off. Momiji/10 - still needs more Momiji.

Difficulty is Content If you want to be challenged, you play Ninja Gaiden and 3 RE might be the hardest one of the three. (though OG NG 2 might be harder due to the Incendiary Shuriken Ninja and the shear amount of enemies on Master Ninja) It lacks in some areas, but the combat system keeps you playing. Enemies dodge or block many of your moves while constantly trying to kill you. The movelist is expanded though having a few less options in weapons. The dismemberment system is back from 2 but enemies are more spongy but is balanced out by the insta-kill Steel on Bones mechanic that can chain to multiple enemies (special counter for certain attacks enemies will throw out). No more relying on health items, instead giving a mixed meter for Ninpo magic and health regen, and later teleporting thru enemy attacks (Good change as it forces the player to get better and better). Only things I don't like are the short forced walking story sections and the bosses. (NG Bosses have always sucked, you play for fighting regular enemies) This game also has the most of amount Ninja Trials of any of the games. And you can play as Ryu, or Ayane, Kasumi, and/or Momiji (the kunoichi from the Dead or Alive series) in any story mission via challenge mission or in any of the Ninja Trial missions. Excellent game, they don't make games this difficult or this re-playable anymore. Dark Souls/Elden Ring/Sekiro is a joke compared to Ninja Gaiden.

Undeniably the black sheep of the trilogy and my least favorite. But I still recommend it. The best story of the series and still a great challenge. Happy 20th anniversary Ninja gaiden. Here's to hoping for the revival of the series.
