Sim features like pit stops, tyre wear and fuel management along with team management and a rival system in a career mode spanning 5 decades of F1 packaged in an accessible fun little retro arcade racer. What a gem.

This game is awesome. Don't let the graphics fool you, this is actually surprisingly detailed for game-play. Features you wouldn't expect are: - Changeable wet/dry weather - Real-ish driver names - Real-ish tracks - Pit stops with pit strategy - Tire wear - Fuel burn - AI defensive driving - Damage - Slipstreaming - Upgrades - Perks - Staff Morale - Very light elements of RP, like snippets of news, dodgy characters etc. Its all there. They've managed to pull off the fact that although it may have all the serious stuff, they've somehow executed it in a fun arcade way. I love how they've made the progression advance throughout the eras of F1, so you start off in the 80's. If you win the 80's championship, you advance to 90's, and so on. Not only that, but you get to keep all of your trophy wins, and even keep your race cars in your very own trophy showroom, just like real teams do (like McLaren?). It just shows it was made by people that do love all the things cool about F1. One down side is that I found it to be quite an easy game, from the 80's season I've played at least. I don't think that's a flex with my awesome skills behind the wheel. I do genuinely think it is a bit on the easy side. Winning every single race in the season, mostly 20 seconds plus lead, lapping most cars tells me so. I'm only 3.7 hrs in so maybe it tightens right up later in my illustrious career lol. EDIT: OK, the difficulty is definitely ramping up now as I enter new decades. Currently, I'm in the 2000's and having to tighten my racing to stay ahead, including pit strategy. Awesome! This is going to a be a real challenge in the 2010's and 2020's! Honestly, so far, I'd rather play this all the way through than the current 'sim' F1 2024 game. It's just a fun take on the F1 genre. Seriously, check this game out

For the old geezers: Do you remember the days when you would sit down and simply pick up a game without having to dive deep into the game mechanics behind it? For the yung'uns: Looking for a game that is easy to pick up and has the right feel between sim and arcade racing? New Star GP let's you dive right into the driver seat and - while simulating tyre grip, fuel load and much more - it simply feels so incredibly easy and forgiving, while still punishing you if you think you can go all *OutRun* or *Mario Kart* with it. It's a game that simply focuses on the fun while gaming, leaving out the more tedious parts for those days you don't want to simulate every tiny detail, dropping out of the race 2 laps before the finish due to a faulty front wheel suspension picked up on lap 43 while driving over a discarded milk shake. While I do enjoy realistic simulations a bunch, I also noticed the inner child in my celebrating a game that simply let's me have fun. Pure unbridled fun.

It's already one of my favorite racing games of all time. It's EXACTLY what I was looking for! I hope the devs make a rally or a GT game after this BANGER! Also, the Hot Lap update is superb... at showing me how awful I am at this game.

Expected Virtua Racing or Hot Shot Racing, but got far more. This is legitimately a great racing game that offers arcade appeal with enough depth to keep you going. It’s rare when it happens. These guys have focused on making a game and they did it. Bravo.
