I have played NWN since 2004 this is the best rendition of D&D for a video game ever created. It features something that no other game has, a DM client added with a toolset to create your own adventures and even persistent worlds. The custom content for this game is extremely vast and the multiplayer community is very welcoming to new and old players alike. I recommend this game to anyone that wants to play D&D in video game format and wants to enjoy a pen and paper style experience with their friends.

Excellent game with a strong community. This is 3e at its peak. Granted, the graphics aren't great compared to modern games like Baldur's Gate 3, but I find the minimalist style charming in its own way. Add to all that the fact you can have one character go through every storyline, a constant never ending adventure. What's not to love?

One of (if not) the best roleplay platforms I've ever had the pleasure to try. I've spent all my hours in multiplayer, playing in persistent worlds like Arelith and Ravenloft. These persistent worlds players are able to create are a gem that you can rarely find anywhere else.

So, I'd be remiss if i didn't leave a review after 10k hours on steam... yeah i said on steam... I've been playing this game since it was out on CD ROM Meaning i've played for about 20 years or so. This game is really something else. The singleplayer story is one of my favorites all time hands down. Then you've got Solid DLCs that came later, Shadows of the Undrentide and hoards of the underdark both absolutely amazing storytelling. So much to find and see hidden away and multiple endings some even hidden away. It doesn't end there, Once you've finished with single player and even played some of the community DLCs some of them are amazing... There are numerous multiplayer servers that exist with dedicated DMs and communities bringing Toril and Faerun to life across various different locations and planes. Yeah this game is old... Yeah most people probably won't see this review because its kinda obscure but if you do... Well i cannot give it a good enough review i mean look at my hours and then realize i've spent more on CD Rom... That says enough when you can't even get 500 outa most modern games... So give it a shot if you are looking for something new.

Fully recommended. Important: I first refunded this game because of the, quite frankly, bad campaign. Then I saw a reddit post saying that the campaign isn't the *true* game. Rather, the community maps is where it's at. And I fully agree. To paraphrase what I read in the reddit post: "this isn't a game like Skyrim where you just jump into the main game and have fun, the main campaign here is pretty much just there to show off the game engine for the time. The real fun lies in all the fantastic community modules you can get from the neverwinter vault. There is a hall of fame section that you can download a bunch of well made modules from." This game is 100% worth it for just 5 bucks on sale, especially with the huge amount of content you get from the insanely passionate community! Haven't tried it but there is workshop support for easy installation of mods and community campaigns. I would suggest using NWNTool tho since it's super easy to use and hassle free, also everyone seems to be using it anyways so there's that. I was quite surprised to see an active online community in this game with persistent worlds that pretty much turn Neverwinter Nights into an MMORPG. Tried it out for a bit but I'm not sure whether it's for me or not yet, still really nice to have. Seems to be a "problem" (if you would call it that) with some of the big RP focused persistent worlds where a lot of the players don't RP in-game but rather in a discord server... didn't notice that myself but just a heads up! Anyways I hope that my review could give some good headers for people on the fence like I was for over a year. Haven't noticed many reviews that actually tell you the best way to experience this game so I felt the need to give some directions. In the end, it's up to you to determine for yourself how you prefer to play the game, if you wanna complete the campaign then go ahead. Don't let me deter you with this review, I'm just writing about what made me come around to enjoying the game.
