Very *ok*. The handling is awkward, the story is lackluster and the soundtrack is hit or miss in a way that the good songs are sort of okay and the bad ones make you want to cut your ears off. And I still enjoyed it more than Heat. The artstyle is genuinely the best thing about this game. Buy it when it inevitably goes on sale for like 5 bucks lol.

This game is pretty good actually. There are so few good arcade racers nowadays, you really don't have a lot of options. I like Forza Horizon but even that game gets stale, and the "story" is kinda ass in Forza. Unbound is different, it has an actual story and singleplayer mode, it doesn't shower you with dozens or cars like Forza, so you really are driving your primary vehicle a lot. I'm into hiphop and I like in game soundtrack, but I do realize the genre selection is kinda narrow. I don't mind the dialogue but I get why it can be considered as "cringe". (not as bad as in 2015 though lol) The gameplay feels nice, the cops are fairly challenging especially on Heat levels 4 and 5, I really like the risk and reward mechanics in the campaign, it makes the experience engaging and fun. The game looks good too, the juxtaposition of real looking environments and cartoony characters works in its favor. Performance is great, no shader struggle or stutters or anything like that. Frostbite engine is (mostly) good in that regard. TLDR: good game, worse than golden era games but still worth it especially with a discount

Unbound leans heavily into the love it or hate it category of NFS titles. I personally think that it does a lot of things well, such as vehicle specific tuning, more crazy customization options, and longer post launch support. That doesn't mean there aren't negatives as well, with many people not finding the art style appealing (I don't mind it) or the handling physics. The biggest con to me is that post launch support is almost exclusively for Lakeshore online, meaning that single player lacks a lot of content from new updates, such as the most recent drag and drift update that completely re-hauled drifting. Single player is super repetitive with its day and night cycle that progresses through a calendar week four times before the grand finale. It is also completely separate from online, meaning that cars do not carry over and you have to unlock them through other means. Despite this, I do think that online is the best it's ever been in any NFS title. This game is definitely one that grew on me over time, and I think it actually is possibly the best modern NFS title, overtaking NFS Heat.
