Would be great if it wasn't titled "Most Wanted", that said it is a B L A S T with mods. Multiplayer is pretty dead, btw Peace :) (as I write this South Korea has declared martial law)

I'm torn between recommend and not recommending it. The game is live service in it's infancy. Cars are scattered through out the open world that players can only drive by buying them through dlc that is sold on the games Steam page. Horrible openly nickel and diming of players. Those cars are in the game that the player bought. They should be driveable. That is first deal breaker there. The second deal breaker, though not as bad, is the game requires the EA launcher to be installed to launch. Product ownership is damn near non existent. Pirate gamers still laughing at us to this day. Now the pros. It's a really good arcade racing game that doesn't have anything other than playing to win. There's no currency you need to grind to purchase cars, just keep winning races. It was made by the developers of a classic racing series called Burnout and it holds that series dna in the gameplay and presentation. If you enjoy the gameplay of this then Burnout is a series that will resonate with you. I mostly play career mode so wont say much about it other than, yes it's still active even after 12 years. I don't listen much to the soundtrack, but I will give it points as well. There are good tracks to listen to if you don't have SoundCloud, Spotify or other music access. EA is a greedy game company, but they do have talented developers that craft incredibly cathartic gaming experiences. I just hope they reign in their executives hunger for profits. But, yes, I recommend NFS MW 2012 to arcade racing fans who can ignore the negatives that I stated.

The Most Melancholic Racing Experience Story There's just none. If you thought that original Most Wanted was bare bones - strap yourselves, because here you don't even get stereotypical racers and undercover cops. Maximum character development you'll get, is cops declaring your driving style "aggressive", and then proceed to crash 10 Fords, 5 SUVs and 3 Corvettes along the same 1-mile stretch of the road. Hypocrisy at it's best, but hey, at least it's funny. Gameplay Gameplay in this Need for Speed is the most polished aspect of the whole game, but it means a lot less than you'd think. Drifting will definitely require some time getting used to, but it is interesting to learn and improve. Biggest problem here is that by the time you start getting better at driving any particular car - boom, you've already completed all the races for the said car, and now good luck re-calibrating your reflexes for the new vehicle. It's annoying, as the game forces you to jump from car to car, and the only opportunity to "reuse" your car of choice is to take it to a Most Wanted Race. Progression All cars are just left out in the open - stop by and grab. After "acquiring" a car, you get 7 races to compete in. By winning these races, you unlock upgrades for your car. Races themselves are sort-of unique, but they are unique to car classes, and not individual cars. So be prepared to replay "Red Shift", "Emerson Beltway", "Bloody Nose" and "Pumping Iron" many, many times over. You also get 10 Most Wanted cars, but in order to unlock those races (and subsequently crash and get the cars themselves), you have to reach certain amount of points first. Winning all 10 MW races, and thus technically completing the game, takes about 18 hours. AI Ok, this deserves a separate discussion. Because AI in this game is just about the worst I've seen in a racing game: regular police Fords and other racers are just half-bad, but police interceptors as well as civilian cars are just god awful. They have so little in a way of self-preservation, that it makes me wonder if they swore their allegiance to the Japanese Emperor. They never try to avoid you, and sometimes pro-actively set crash course into you. Even older Burnout: Paradise from the same guys at Criterion had better AI than this crap. Cars Car selection is pretty good: game does have some curious cars of the era like Marussia or Porsche 918, as well as timeless classics like Porsche 911, Lamborghini Countach, Ford GT, Shelby and others. And, the main antagonist of the series - Chevrolet Corvette - was also included both as a playable vehicle, and as a police interceptor. Neat! Music This is just about the last Need for Speed game with decent OST. Some tracks are really good, some are mediocre, and some are straight up 2010-s dupstep garbage, that shall not be remembered. Verdict 7/10 , but it depends. If you, just like me, want a retro-NFS driving experience, with or without story, with all cars at your fingertips, good gameplay and decent OST - this is game for you. If you are actually "serious" about racing sims - this game has very little to offer. Game does feel empty and melancholic - but maybe that's exactly what you are looking for. At least I was. Bonus (Music) And again, a little bonus.
