SO UNREALISTIC! And I love it. Good, chill arcade style basketball. Its a real fat bummer that you cant complete any of the daily changes now that the game is pretty much sidelined. So, if you want to unlock any of the swag or court editor pieces, you are going to have to pay... probably a lot. Luckily you can still unlock all of the players.

Playgrounds brought us a new age NBA Jam style basketball game with around 200+ players in the game. Playground 2 offers an even better NBA Jam style experience with more than 400+ players in the game. The game is bigger and more fun, however, it does try to rip you off with in-game purchases. Luckily, these are gone due to the servers being down. This both gets rid of in-game purchases, but also in game unlocks. virtual money, V-bucks, are only accessible via online challenges. Without online challenges, you can only unlock new players, not new custom clothing or court upgrades. Minus the negatives above, the game is a blast. It's kind of like mixing the lottery of Mario Kart weapons box in basketball where you get extra speed, extra strength, extra points for certain types of scoring opportunities, and more. On the reverse, you can suddenly be cursed or have your rim frozen over so you can't make a shot. The lottery provides a higher level intensity when you're trying to defend your lead and your opponent can double their 3 point shots or more. On easy, the game is a breeze. But on NBA level, the gameplay becomes absolutely a challenge. Trying to win an NBA Championship on this difficulty level sure proved to be a challenge. There are tricks to learn in the game such as pushing, stealing, alley-oops and more. The gameplay is smooth, fast, and unapologetic. I had lots of fun playing NBA difficulty. The sounds are great, the commentators can be changed in the options for different sound bytes. Eventually it gets repetitive, but it's still a nice accompaniment to the gameplay. I still like it when he yells "tickle the twine" when I make a shot. The graphics are wonderful. You can tell you're looking at Lebron James or Magic Johnson. Each player is well recreated. The movement, animation flow, and look of it is cartoony, but realistic enough to feel like you're truly playing the greats. Unlocking all the players is hard. It will take a lot of games to gain the number of basketballs needed to unlock card packs. You can purchase different level card packs. Cards packs open up 5 players and you can get repeats too. As you play the game to collect more basketballs to open up more players, you also gain levels for you, which I'm not sure what the benefits of that is, other than grinding, but each player has a bronze, silver, and gold level including a diamond level if you finish all challenges. Challenges range from a certain number of steals per game, shots per game, or rebounds per game. With each level of your player comes an increase in stats too. The stats don't change much unless your character goes to the next level. Like less than 50 is not good, more than 50 is okay, and more than 75 is great. The little differences don't do much, but the big differences do, if that makes sense. All in all though you can truly play this game as a pick up and go game. It doesn't take long to play a game, and it's so much fun, it's perfect for that 10 minutes you needed to just pause and have a good time. Definitely one of the better offerings out there if you enjoy basketball. And if you have someone that wants to play couch co-op, this game only gets better.

I haven't had this much fun for YEARS. I never knew about this game until recently. Bought it, tried it, it beats NBA 2K23, 2K24, probably all new NBA 2Ks later on. Hands down 1 of the best games I've ever played.

This is one of my favorite games. My play time is much higher, I'm usually offline. No bugs, excellent graphics and sound, good controls. I have zero complaints. This is a highly addictive arcade basketball game. The tutorial section will get you up and running quick, and if you practice, you'll soon be dominating the court and increasing difficulty. If you like basketball, you should grab this. Highly recommended!

So far seems to be just as great as the first one, just with more game modes and a slightly improved progression system. The multiplayer seems better functioning too, but that's not really my draw to the game. In all, this is very much an over-the-top basketball arcade game, made for short spurts of absolute joy. It's basketball, but there's not really much in terms of rules. The visuals look great, the models are great caricatures of their real-life counterparts. If that all sounds like something you could manage, this is a fantastic game to pick up!
