What We Found That Summer is great! Very similar to Winter/Summer Memories, with some nice but small gameplay differences here and there. Took me around 20 hours to 100%. Honestly it started off kinda slow to start compared to Winter/Summer (probably because there wasn't a super easy way I found to break the currency system, haha). And while the art is superior to those games in my opinion, there isn't very much of it in comparison. But overall I think the story is higher quality than Winter/Summer Memories, that's where this game really shines. It's less kinky (which may actually be a plus for some folks), but this game ends up being much more emotional and story-driven. It really had me wondering "what happens next??" as I was playing. Koumei, Aoi, and Chitose's endings specifically were pretty heavy, you might cry. My only issue with the game is that most of the characters look way too much alike. A few characters like Natsu and Misaki get a pass because they're literally related, and they at least gave Kotohana a unique eye color (though she is basically indistinguishable from her mother, which is wild because they AREN'T related by blood). It just gets a bit confusing when reading dialogue sometimes since there are no names in the text boxes to distinguish who's who. I caught on by the end, but still worth mentioning. One last thing, don't drive yourself crazy looking for Aoi, Kotohana, and Koume's 4th H-Scene, they aren't in the game yet as of writing this. The 4 codes you get from that snowman-looking guy are for locating extra lore in the game files, not for unlocking anything in-game. 9/10, Aoi's my favorite!
I've read a review saying that this game is short and is just a cheap copy of Summer Memories and Winter Memories. They're absolutely 100% wrong. The game (with the patch) is great, not good, but great. It lack a few mechanics that you expect to have after playing games like SM and WM, but the point being is it's its own game. The story is just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good and i've shed a few tears myself. Unlike SM and WM, it doesn't focus on Sex and Debauchery. It's there, sure, but I'm just really in awe on how good the character writing is in this game. The main protagonist isn't a nympho, and is really just someone that you can see exist. I can't say much about the heroines since I'm biased, but it feels alive. I really recommend buying this game and playing it, heck even if it's not discounted just get it, it's worth the price.
General Experience What We Found That Summer is a very cozy eroge similar to Summer Memories. The characters are well-written, and despite the fun horniness in the early-game they all end up having a great deal of depth to them. In fact, after you're done having "fun" with all the characters, you get some of the most gut-wrenching character developments. It's possible they're painful to read because the early game lets down your guard, but the story as a whole is quite emotional. The events have a lot of continuity, making everything going on very seamless and well-read. The pixel art is beautiful; very fleshed out and it feels quite cozy (the talking sprites are some of my favorites). Highly recommended, with or without the patch. Adult Content You will need a patch from the Kagura website to access the adult content. Each of the 5 characters has about 6 scenes, fully animated with pixel art and available in the post game gallery. Supposedly there are more scenes being added, specifically to close out the characters. Most of the content is pretty tame, and the wildest thing you will probably come across is watersports. The majority of content is frontloaded and the rest will be available after clearing all 5 endings. There is a lot of story available that will consume most of your time in the game. Complaints I didn't have any real issues with the game. I do wish there was more content, but a lot of that stems from the game being very pleasant to play. I'm looking forward to a potential winter sequel. Replayability There isn't really a new game+, once you clear a path within the 31 days you get a freeplay mode with no time limit. You unlock the memories and can progress like normal. There are 5 endings to explore, and some post game content that was added later. Replaying the game is for the sake of seeing everything in a natural progression again, you don't really have proper branching paths or a jealousy system that would want you to replay it. Achievements There are no achievements at this time. Technical Issues I didn't run into any game breaking bugs, or any bugs in general. Value Normally it's $15, however when it does go on sale you can pick it up for 50% off. I could probably recommend it at full price, given that I definitely enjoyed the characters and their deep stories. If you want the game just for it's adult content, I would probably suggest a sale. Either way, it is well worth picking up.
