A step up in quality over the previous installment (which I abandoned). STORM 2 ditches the "Open World" aspect and instead goes for a more linear approach, although I'd enjoy if they offered mechanics such as chakra dashing as was the case in STORM 1. Even though the exploration is more linear now, it often feels sluggish due to how much you have to go back and forth, however this is a minor issue. The story itself is also an upgrade. STORM 2 takes you through the start of the Shippuden series all the way into the Pain arc, while not everything could be crammed in, it does a decent job at telling the story. We also see QTE segments in big battles, which is nicely integrated. The only real gripe I have with the combat is that the substitution jutsu are poorly implemented, it is required to time exactly as you are hit but often ends up feeling like an RNG mechanic. Thankfully, in the later titles they improved upon it. Overall, the game is a great STORM title which deserves playing.

+ This game covers the main story of Naruto (not as detailed as the anime/manga) from the timeskip (Shippuden Era) to the Pain's Assault Arc. + Stunning visuals, especially for a PS3 game. + Slight improvements to the battle system to Naruto Storm 1. + Online mode available, though finding a match may be difficult as most players are active on newer games. + Amazing soundtrack. + Features the most variety of boss battles in the series. + Includes Lars Alexandersson from Tekken 6 as a special guest character. - Free roaming is very slow, making exploration and item collection frustrating due to the sluggish movement. - The substitution jutsu mechanic hasn’t changed from Naruto Storm 1 and remains challenging compared to other Storm games. - The game’s AI is too easy, offering little challenge. - Several battle mechanics from Naruto Storm 1 were removed, including Clash Jutsu, Ultimate Jutsu Fail, Ultimate Impact Slap, and Wall Combat. If you're unfamiliar with the Naruto story, you won’t feel as lost as in Naruto Storm 1, thanks to a more straightforward, linear storyline that’s easy to follow even without knowledge of the anime or manga. However, if you didn’t enjoy the substitution jutsu mechanic in Naruto Storm 1, this game might still be a tough sell, as that feature remains unchanged. That said, it does offer some incredible boss battles that are hard to miss.

Naruto Ninja Storm 2 truly set a standard for the series when it was released. None of the other games have quite captured the crisp fight choreography, voice acting, and storytelling that "Storm 2" delivered. Although the story isn't entirely complete—the game concludes with the end of the Pain arc and just before the onset of the Fourth Great Ninja War in the anime—it succeeds in recapping Naruto's journey of self-discovery, growth, and the forging of bonds with his comrades while protecting those he holds dear. While I could go on about my obsession with the story mode and Ultimate Adventure, it's worth noting that the combat in this game is noticeably slower. However, that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. Unlike "Storm 3" and later entries, you can't cancel your attacks with chakra dashes, which means you need to get extra creative with your combo routes in battle. **Note:** Air chakra dashing isn't available in this game, and from what I've seen, neither is double jumping. It’s unclear if some characters might have this ability, but it's not a standard feature. The online experience, expectedly, isn’t the most stable, considering the game was made back in the 2010s. Matches typically work if you and your opponent are running the same frame rate, but in my experience, it rarely ran smoothly. Honestly, I’m not even sure how I managed to get the ranked achievements because starting a match was a struggle. ANOTHER NOTE: achievement hunters, there are bugged achievements in this game, there are guides to get those bugged achievements, be warned its not hard just very tedious and time consuming especially with the two online achievements. Overall, "Naruto Ninja Storm 2" may show its age in some aspects, but its impact on the series remains undeniable, with a nostalgic charm that still resonates with fans.

[09.09.2024 - 14.09.2024] So, I've got some mixed feelings about this one. I enjoyed this game badly, even tho, some mechanics were completely removed or swapped with different ones or similar, I loved how enjoyable fights are, excluding few of them. I've mastered all boss fights (with 100% hp + all stars + bonus), done everything I ever could. First of all, the major run of the game took me around 19 hours, additional 21 hours was mastering everything out with an S score + collectibles. Then, had to spend additional hours to figure out how to fix achievements not completing, which I'm one of the victims that were punished by devs after collecting everything at the end. Got it fixed, but took me additional hours for. My game's save is 43 hours in total play time for. I've had to spend additional hours to complete stupid achievements nobody ever asked for, but I managed them too as well, of course not worth it. And I ended up with over 62 hours that Platinum'd the game finally. Buggy mess. - Additional point of mine that I'm concerned, awful port, bad optimization like every Naruto from the series. I hate this engine so much. However, I'm still loving this game, I'm the biggest fan of the series itself and I'm still wishing for Naruto handrawned video game, either 2D or 3D. - I have to mention, it's just a fighting game based on Naruto Universe, some stories are different than they used to be originally, and some are skipped. - So, how would I rate this game at the end? Well, 8/10. If I wasn't a fun, I'd truly rate it lower for those messy bugs that made me almost not to platinum this game I wanted, yet had to spend extra hours I never needed. Prolly would it be 6/10 if not. Have fun, Enjoy! PS. Have played and Finished the game on the Steam Deck OLED.
