An interesting mix of old and new that takes the gameplay sensibilities of survival horror classics, and marries it with more recent mascot horror theming. Gameplay draws influence from classic resident evil, with Resident evil 4's inventory management, sure to please fans of classic survival horror. The narrative of the game is actually quite touching, and has enough little lore bits to appeal to mascot horror fans. If you're uncertain, pick it up on a sale and give it a try!

Don't be fooled, this is not a mascot horror game. This is just a really great resident evil 7 like. I especially recommend it if you need something to scratch that resident evil itch. Just please for the love of god, DON'T ever play on friendly mode. I'm not saying this because I think it's too easy, I'm saying it because the mode is bugged and if you grab any cheat tapes on it then you will be locked out of 100% on your game save and will be forced to delete your save file.

So, this is one of those games that truly deserves special attention just because you can tell that this title had a lot of love behind this. A goofy little spin on resident evil with a surprising amount of character and a whole bunch of secrets that kept me intrigued for 6 hours in one play through. Definitely going to uncover everything just to see the extent of how far this truly goes.

I have played literally thousands of games in my 30 years on this earth. I've played more games than the average much-more-than-average person. I say this with my whole heart. This is the first survival horror game that I've ever finished. The first one I've ever enjoyed. The first one I've said aloud "Oh, I get it now, I get it, it's fun, I'm enjoying this." I have complex post traumatic stress disorder, so my brain has a really difficult time conceptualizing "scary" and "a good time" at the same time. I don't get the release of built-up tension like many people do - I stay in a state of extreme hyper-vigilance to the point of exhaustion and my frontal lobe is too locked up to be able to solve puzzles. I genuinely gave up trying. I blocked the tags "horror" and "survival horror" from Steam because I was forced to write off the entire genre as something that "other people get to play." This game truly found the absolute perfect balance for people like me, who WANT to play games like this but just... can't. I can't recommend it enough. This isn't "mascot horror" in the way that many other asset flips are - "Ooh no, the children's toy is actually a demon coming to get you JUMPSCARE JUMPSCARE YOUTUBE COMPILATION OF STREAMERS SCREAMING." So many games that look like this exist only to be streamed by people that react loudly when frightened (FNAF, Poppy), or to heavily market to children (Hello Neighbor). This is genuinely "what if Resident Evil but a $30 indie masterpiece."
